Blog directories

Hi all,

I've been adding my blog to several high raking blog directories, im just wondering how important it is to add a linkback image from the directory, most of them say "a linkback is not mandatory" etc, some of them say you should add them or your blog wont get listed, but not sure how true is that.

Any thoughts?

Most of them have automatic linkback detection. What I do is I have another crappy site that links back to them, that way it bypasses their linkback detection without the link having to be reciprocal.
