As per my experience you have to diversify or else Google will look it as spam. So better you keep building back-links on different platforms.. hope this helps.

But as the poster above said, Google may ding you for "unnatural" links due to lack of diversity

How about Forum Links, Profile Links and Comment links altogether. Will this help low-medium Keyword to rank

use blog commenting as one part along with other submissions try to divert traffic through comment.
 
If someone write comments on your blog/content it means your page have lower bounce rate.Someone is commenting means content is user engaging .Commenting via social log in helps to spread the word on social media .Answering /replaying to that comment help you gain trust.
 
If you are talking about your personal blog, it will work, but if are going to do it for another site than don't rely only on blog comments.
 
In my opinion, Don't do blog commenting alone. Google will penalize your site for sure. If you want to build blog commenting only means You can build 5 backlinks per day. But don't assure your site will rank for this action. Better you can try to make a mix of backlinks method. It will surely help your site.
 
only blog comment improve your website trust flow. it will not help or boost your keywords like PBN, web 2.0 guest post etc
 
Could look unnatural Google likes diversity but lots depends on other factors such as bounce rate- comments links etc
