It is working, but as a spam as tier 3 or so to get some link juice to your backlinks, definitely not for tier 1.

Blog comments are both effective for backlinks and traffic if done perfectly. If you are going to set up something like Google alerts and and be the early bird to comments on the authority sites then you can get good traffic. As for the backlinks, I think the do - follow factor comes in and if you are getting good quality from big sites in your niche, it strengthens the rankings..

Yes they works for me, but why should i care about SEO unless I'm getting targeted traffic?
