Can having a lot of incoming links from only blog comments to a site that is not a blog become an issue for ranking?

Let's say I have a website about building your own house. I get blog comment links from blogs that talk about fixing drains, repairing the stairs, etc.

What I am wondering is, it is good time spent to get a good number of such comment backlinks?

Or, is it better to get links from business directories and other types of websites?

I'm basically trying to find out how much Google values backlinks from blog comments, compared to other types of backlinks.

I don't think the type of your site matter much in ranking if you do on page seo well. Rely on blog comments only will not get you far. You should try other type of links. Blog comments can be a good source of link, make sure to filter high obl blog posts.

I don't think its bad, your getting backlinks. I myself try and mix it up from different sources, forums, social bookmarking, social media to name a few.

Blog Comments gives you the best result compare to other SEO services and it doesn't matter from where they are coming ( any Niche is accepted by Google )

Thanks for the replies.

It's just getting harder and harder to get quality, related backlinks these days.

Try with different links from different i.p's - it will work.
