Blog Commenting & Forum Posting - What Are the Limits ?

Hi,

i'm getting into a new niche and i targeted a long tail keyword, but i tracked the website who is ranking for the root keyword and i got shocked! really shocked when i saw that 90% of his links are coming from comments and links in signatures ONLY !! i was like :yield: ( over than 1800 links) and the domain is only 5 months old and he got teh first spot and he is there for more than a month now among million of highly optimized pages! (redeculusly compititive niche)

i was putting commenting and forum posting on my action plan but ... i wasn't that intrested in it as much as writing articles and making videos and the angela method,


Now i'm gonna take it so seriously because i saw that guy's results and it's really impressive :banana: ,

but to be honest i'v never done this kind of stuff before and i don't know what are the limits, and how can i work without the risk of getting banned by Google ?

I'm planing to build a lot of niche sites by targeting low compitition so i'm not willing to spend months in one site, and my plan is to build 3 sites a month .

so i want to know what are the limits and what is the kind of "volume" needed to see good results in keywords with less than 20k in compitition and is it ok to do all the work in one day or two (exmpl one day for comments and one for forums) ?

Do regularly only 3-5 comments and 3 - 5 forum postings per day otherwise it will be considered spam.

Regular work is required rather than everything in one day. It is like exercise to keep fit, you cannot do all in one day.

Yeah but this is for a long term project

what if i did 4-7 comment in one day and the second day the same amount of forum posts, ?? will it show any resuts ofr long tail ketwords ?

You need as many backlinks as possible. You should be able to easily match your competitor because you have all his links on a plate ready for you to copy - backlinkwatch.com

He will most likely disappear from the rankings soon, and you will soon follow him if you follow his tactics - this is called the google sandbox. However, your competitor will not be worried. Most likely, he already knows that if he keeps building links during this period, he will come out the other side of the sandbox stronger than ever. This process should not take longer than 3 months.

@host32 - yes, comments one day and forum posts the other day, it will definitely work for long trail keywords.

Also you can make your own blogs with exact keywords or long trail keywords and you can do postings on that.

It will be like having your own house rather than renting in some body else's house ( i mean for commenting on other's blogs but yes it helps in some way).

Yeah actually i remember that this guy desapeared for a month or so and now he stick into the first spot

The best thing to do is get yahoo site explorer get the competors site watch his links then go place your links there then add more like 1k more than him & links shld of different types then watch yourself ranking with your niche

There's nothing spam about blog comments or forum postings. The filter that is triggered is if you do it really really fast. Do you think if you send 1,000,000 blog comments to cnn.com they will get banned? Not at all - they are an established old quality site. If you have a good site with some age, you can do stuff like that with little risk...

I would be careful with comment spamming.
Just found that today: http://www.backtype.com/url/***.com. (change ***.com to target url)

Type in your competitors or your url and look at the results. I used a FF addon for wp comments some time ago. And I found every comment here.

It looks obvoius, when they are all the same...

but for a short term project less than 20k in comp) , how much comments and blog posts do you guys think is requered to give some nice results ?

fyi, i'm also submiting articles and i have now 10 live articles in ezinearticles, and aroude 28 videos in difrent video sites with my link hyperlinked in teh description and all of them are indexed by now and i also got some links from angela november package (i got links from all the 30 sites)

what do you think guys ? how much ?

Around 5 per day x 30 days will do, more done in one day may be considered spam.

Does it really matter if you do 5 a day for 7 days or 35 in one day for every 7 days?

I mean, most of those pages will not get crawled or index that very same day, most will take a couple of days before Google even sees it...

So back to the original question, does it matter?

of course number of comments matters, if you are doing 100 comments per day then it is spam, you are not white hat and doing genuine commenting, nobody has time to do hundreds of comments in a single day and search engines understand that well, so keep less but regular commenting.

Man ! who said something about a 100 a say ! i was thinking that 10 a day is a lot and thats why am i asking

Build a miniature link wheel too.. create 4 or 5 Web 2.0 properties containing relevant articles and a link to your site. Then you can build blog comments and forum links to these properties too, without the risk of being penalised. There's a lot more chance of your site being sand-boxed than the authoritative Web 2.0 pages, plus if they do it's not a big loss. Then you will also get link juice from the Web 2.0 properties, as well as the direct backlinks.
