Blasting links question

Will I see any advantage in ranking if I blast a link from a product page on ebay for specific keywords or will google give me a big slap? The reason I ask is because I've heard that it wont matter since the main domain is a huge authority to google.

If the product has other official site with authority then mostly pages associated with it will be on top. But, you can try it. Ranking product pages is same as other pages, it takes time as well.
