Blast Safety

I have been reading up on blasts and backlinking.

My competitor has 1100 backlinks. I was looking at some packages on here that have 1000-2000 backlinks available for purchase.

What are the chances that this will flag me with Google?

There are chances.

However, blackhat SEO comes with risks. You either do away with them or take them head on.

Chances you screw up and goto sandbox will depend a lot on age and trust factors, and on the type of backlinking service you plan on ordering. No one can say for sure if its a go or no go without taking a further look on things.

Most of the websites I will be running them on are fairly new. Like a few months or even weeks. Any thoughts?

A 1-2000 blast on a new site should be alright. Just dont ping them and let G find them naturally.

my answer is - build as many links as you can, ping them and give google find them.
