blacklist your competition...

ok picture this say your in a niche market but are presently sitting in the bottom half of the first page of google.... i was wondering if this it possible... can you damage or even get your competitors sites blacklisted?

For example ive read many times before that crap backlinks or backlinks from link farms dont do you any good, or say for example with this pinging business say you ping there site 1000+ times a day, or you instantly duplicate there content how does google know whos content was first? do you think any of this would have any effect on there ranking?

anyone tried something like this? what would be the number thing to damage there ranking?

"Hyperthetically speaking", if thousands of people received spams that appear to come from a domain, it would be quickly either blacklisted or even shutdown. (Just some dark thoughts, I've seen the results of such actions once... )

Spam their url to gmail accounts

There's been some cracking down on this. It used to be guilty until proven innocent, but thanks to dirty marketers, search engines and spam listing services now check out the site in question.

If they see top rankings and an honest business, they're going to guess pretty quickly that someone is trying to knock them out.

It's still possible to do, just not as easy as it was a few years ago. I used to know a major spammer who got paid thousands of dollars to spam the hell out of domain to get it shut down, and if that didn't work he would send thousands of emails a minute to the actual domain in question to shut down their server.
