Read read read, spend a few days in the clickbank and money making sections reading other peoples past journeys and experiences. As far as the website itself goes, it would be a good idea to include an opt in email form and possibly a squeeze page. All that depends on what type of site you are trying to make.

This is an important point you need to clear up.
If your just promoting an aff product, then just use the search function, the entire forum is dedicated and built around this stuff.

Yup they are 2 different things, like:
1. If you want to create/promote your own clickbank site it involves a lot of things and it requires a big ammount of money.
You will need an designer ( low to mid $xxx )
Copyrighter ( mid to high $xxx )
Depending on the product you will need an copyrighter if its an ebook, an programmer if its an software or an coder if its a script.
Clickbank fees
Fees to site where you can list your product to find affiliates
Fees to pay guys with lists to send emails
etc etc etc
It all depends on your product and how much money you want to make from it.
2. If you want to create/promote an affiliate clickbank website it's more simple:
* Create an blog/website
* Post some unique content to it
* SEO it and get #1
* Bank from it
Anyway nothing is simple, both require some time and money invested and none give you the guarantee that you will earn 1 cent from them

Edit: Turn off your cookies when you follow links outside of youtube. Seriously. You should on youtube too, but when you enter these woods, be somewhat protected from cookie hijacking.

make sure you have a good affiliate resources page, affiliates are the main benefit of Clickbank so you need to make sure you look after them and give them what they need

Do alot more reading on here, downloads section as mentioned is great. There is actually better shares on other websites also, because BHW protects members products.

Keyword research
Search engine optimisation (SEO)
How to build a website (I'd like to suggest wordpress)
Monetisation (basically how exactly are you going to generate sales, and split testing)
When you understand these all in depth then promoting things like a clickbank product just come second nature.
