BlackHatWorld = Distraction

I definitely find myself checking BHW often. Though it's good because I find a ton of info from here.

Internet Marketing. Always looking for new ways to eventually make money.

Before Youtube demonetized me, I was making enough money for quite a comfortable life where I live and was just starting to semi-retire from excessive Internet usage, going out more, driving my kid to training, reading books.. and that Youtube hit me and I'm back to square one, staring at my screen whole day, looking for new things to make money from.

Few days before demonetization bought some 20 books and was in negotiation to buy double of that, planning to spend winter reading tons of books and taking it easy. It hit me on the first and never read it to the end.

Painful times but you will become stronger as a result. You've earned online and I believe you will again soon, and will be prepared for the situation should it arise again.

As for the topic of the thread, yes it can be if you allow it, but that could be said about anything. Facebook, Instagram, Youtube (big problem), texts or any sort of notification on your pc/phone. Anything that stops you doing what you had planned/intended to do is a distraction and must be recognised as such in order to help you overcome it. Thank you for this thread, it was the push I needed to sort myself out.

Thanks. Yes, it's second time I almost made it (had few hundred bitcoins few years ago). But hopefully, it will come :)

Adsense. Tried all kind of shit later, but no luck yet. I have 3-4 million views monthly, so around 25-30 million views wasted, lol

Those are some serious "view" numbers. Must've been generating some pretty decent "ad revenue"?

I'm sure you've learned quite a bit after 11 years! :)

Learned quite a bit. My problem was not implementing what i learned and fell off the wagon. I just recently started back up and hopefully become a contributing member of this amazing community. Don't do what i did folks, pick a method, learn it and take action!

Only positive would be the viewers enjoy an ad-free experience so are likely to stick around to watch more of your videos. You could possibly take advantage with some small promotions of product/affiliates depending on the genre of your channel, but obviously you don't want to overdo it to keep your viewers around. Would be a shame to let all that progress be futile.

Why is it that I find myself checking the forum every 10 minutes of my workday?

That's an insane amount of time. Do you have a life off of BHW? ;)

In most cases, it has nothing to do with distraction or addiction. It's just your default strategy: Hoping for something miraculous to occur in order for your life to change dramatically into better, without you actually changing at all.

If you're not doing too good recently, mental masturbate on how much you would achieve if you'd do this and that, lack a goal, direction or faith, then most likely that's the reason.

Hope is not a strategy.

You're not a princess waiting to be saved. Fucking work! It gets boring swiftly; it's repetitive and dull. But the consistency of doing some of the most mundane works is what parts you from platitude while prompts you back into your frame, on your path towards something meaningful and a satisfactory life.

Now, you've reached the point where you're asking yourself, "how to do that?" In theory, that's quite easy. But in reality, you have to do 2 things.

  • Diverge from your emotions - Embrace the failure. If you're not working you're probably worried you'd work a lot of time only to realize later you haven't achieved anything. Embrace that, and start working anyway! You might indeed not achieve anything, but with such worrisome thoughts and hesitation, you already aren't accomplishing something. So you might as well start doing something, else you won't even notice the result of your inputs.
  • Stop multi-tasking - It's heavily frustrating not to complete something because in your process you begin working on something easier, harder, more intensive or essential part of your project. But you know what? Most times you only unconsciously scan for things that need a minor fix or improvement to disregard the only most important task you're at while making you *feel* as you're progressing. You unintentionally avoid finishing what you must truly do. Focus on your only job until it's done! Stop lurking around finding new, more interesting problems that need fixing, or *future* problems that you'll probably have. Define your task. Impose yourself to stick to it only, make yourself a schedule and manage yourself. Harder in practice; nevertheless, set yourself a goal and a path - So you won't get lost or derail from it.

Well said.

When I first started with IM, I used to experience something similar, in which I'd find myself clicking REFRESH on Adsense and/or whichever affiliate website and/or Voluum backend I was using for tracking my metrics, far more often than I should, but I just simply couldn't help it. It was a struggle to refrain from this struggle with refresh addiction. I've had it a few times over the years with BHW, some online games, Coinmarketcap, and a few other websites and forums.
