Hey guys,

There is some crazy ass stuff installed on my PC that is making me mad as hell. Every time I click a link or try to navigate around a website Im instantly redirected to some search engine type site offering me flights or insurance or whatever.

I cant tell you how annoying this is when your trying to get work done. I have to manually type really long urls into the address bar to get to where I need to go.

I have done all sorts of scans using norton and adware but nothing is picking this up.

Can somebody offer some advice.

Thanks

What browser are you using?
What is your OS?

I could assist if i get these info posted..

Try reinstalling browser..

Uninstall the browser like firefox,opera..etc completely and install again.
If you are using older browsers consider updating them
If u are using IE.. then probably u will get similar attacks in future so migrate to more safer browser like firefox or chrome.

Also don't forget to save your bookmarks.. use some plugin with firefox to sync bookmarks..
Installing a good antivirus is essential but updating it is more important..
use an internet security site for better security..

Recommendation:
Browser: Mozilla Firefox 3.6.2
OS : Linux or Win7 or Mac
Internet Security Suite: Norton or AVG or a good real-time scanning suite

What you've got could actually end up being significantly worse the longer you wait to fix the problem. It is HIGHLY likely that the program installed on your PC is in the background downloading more virus' with every second that goes by.

Here is what to do to get rid of it (and anything/everything else it has already surely installed on your PC).

Download Malware-Bytes (it's free). It also doesn't have to be "installed" like a typical anti-virus (you know, like the ones that are always running eating up valuable resources. This is a "start & stop" type program. You run it when you want to, and it doesn't run unless you start it).

Anyway, download it, install it & bring it up to date (download all the latest virus definitions. It will do this automatically for you).

Once you've done that, restart your computer into safe mode with networking OFF (this will make it so that the virus' can't connect to the web and download more while you're getting rid of the little bastards).

If you don't know how to start a computer in safe mode with networking off, simply restart your PC & as it is booting up tap the F8 key. You'll get a list of options.

Once your computer is fully started in safe mode, run Malware-Bytes & when that has finished running restart your PC as normal (it will reboot in regular mode with networking turned back on).

That's it.

As it happens I've just delt with this problem about an hour ago.
Right what you need to do is make sure your anti-virus, malware programs etc are up to date, (I use AVG, Search and Destroy, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and CC Cleaner), reboot into safe mode and run ALL these programs then reboot, it does the trick nicely, good luck1

Jeez I was not expecting so many responses in such a short space of time. I will run through some of the advice now thanks.

If you know the date that it started occurring, simply go to your system tools and do a system restore to a date before the problem arose. That will remove any problems that were installed after the system restore date.

I have a problem of getting blindsided from the same type of adware periodically and just do a system restore at a date before it started and the problems disappear.
