Blackhatters: Don't you feel bad?

Fair enough, but you could put that brain power into doing things that don't screw others over. Why not put the college brain to use if you feel bad.

nah this is my first post I usually just read the content you guys put up and twist it in my own my. Never bothered posting until my conscience stated playing with me becoz of the current method I'm using. This thread is a way to clear the mind

My method is white hat but I still feel pretty bad about it. Worse than any of my black hat methods actually. But my competitors don't stop to consider ethics and neither do I. If you bow out of it, there will another step in to facilitate the parting of a fool and his money. So the absolute reasoning is that "feeling bad" is irrelevant.

I tend to use very blackhat ways of selling things, but normally the product is pretty legit.

If you think about it, everything you do in life could potentially affect someone else in a negative way i.e. you buy the last brownie and someone else doesn't get one, you succeed in a job interview and someone else fails... You have to have your own moral compass and let that guide you.

me and my wife have been the fashion business many years, my wife produced clothes for big brands such as zara, levis, Marks & Spencer, and more.

so we know how much is the factory cost, so, when i see a factory cost at $10 and sold at $500 in the shop, or when i see a jacket made in in china, being ship to spain, then change the label to "made in spain" so that they can sell the jacket more expansive.

I ask myself who are the real scammers?

If you look at the logo, this is a black hat SEO forum. Not a black hat hacking/cracking/illegal forum. Most people here are in SEO and IM, not cracking/hacking and other illegal enterprises.

My post was mainly talking about blackhat CPA but I didn't mention that as I wanted those from other parts of IM to chime in as well.

In the grand scheme of life there are much worse things but again, as others have said, follow your own moral code not someone elses.

hey so after my post here telling to tell me your immoral method someone neg repped me, i want to apologize but if you look at my post you'll se a (:p) smile at the end, because it was a joke...
i hope that whoever neg repped me don't think bad at that, bad joke i know...

I also thought the same as OP thought, at first. But then I realized there are much much more dumbfuck idiot scumbags, far darker than blackhatters. Also it is very possible that you might start out with pure black hat, but in the way you will just discover different ways and tricks for a white hat business too.

The lengths people go to rationalize their shitty behavior...ain't no different than buying a stolen iphone from a meth-head for $20 bucks because...if I don't,someone else will. And knowing well that someone somewhere is crying for it.

I made a small fortune in email marketing years ago, and nearly every bit of it was at the expense of other people. I honestly couldn't stand myself by the time the Feds came knocking at my door, but I rationalized it by simply telling myself that it was purely for entertainment, and those who gave me money should have known better. "There's a sucker born every minute, and I want to find him," I used to tell people.

This wasn't who I truly was, though. I am, and was then, a good person at heart. But my heart was crushed by a girl when I was just a child, and the ensuring shitstorm left a frail, desperate, morally challenged shell of a person in its place.

I've lost every penny of that small fortune I made (I consider it my pennance), and every day I thank whatever God is listening that I appreciate him giving me another chance in life to make amends for my deplorable actions, and from here on out I'm trying to make the world a better place.
I used to work as a casino affiliate. I made a small fortune persuading (probably quite dumb) people to gamble their money away. The casinos loved me and I had countless meetings with them where they'd try and make my advertising convert better and tell me things like, 'hey, can you send traffic to this casino this week because there's a stricter minimum bet policy and it will be much harder for them to withdraw their money'.. After the money was coming in like clockwork I barely had to work anymore and spent most of my time lounging around in 5* hotels around the world or in stylish apartments I'd rented, drinking too much and smoking too much and generally living a rather 'playboy' life style..

I'd thought it was slightly immoral to work in gambling (especially in the way I would persuade people) when I started out but I was HUNGRY for the cash and I thought that it was just part of life .. after a while making good money I became pretty disillusioned with my life style and started to look at the world in a different way.. after having a sort of 'wtf is going on' moment when I realized I'd created a situation where I was living like some sort of deranged, spoilt playboy and that the only thing funding this lifestyle were people losing their money because they'd been persuaded to gamble I knew I had to turn it around..

But it took a good long while for me to actually make this change. Now I'm much happier though, I work strictly in SEO and gave up PPC gambling marketing about 2 years ago. I feel happier because my websites actually bring value to people that are searching for things and my money is made in a 'legitimate' way.

It's often hard to look past the money when you're making bank, I didn't really feel that bad to be honest, it took a real 'wtf am I doing' moment, probably caused by a ridiculous lifestyle that made me re-think things, I'm glad it happened though because not only has it made me run my business in a different way, it's also changed my entire outlook on life..

I started internet marketing to become filthy rich... that was my only aim..

Now my only aim is to make the world a better place and thankfully I've got a great skill set in online marketing and SEO that I can use to generate the money to do that. Guess what I'm saying is that my drive for money in the beginning has put me in a better position to help others now - but there was a good few years when I was probably doing more harm than good, and I try and correct that every day..
This thread is really actual nowadays. We all should try to make this world a better place to live and not hurt anyone for money and not cross moral borders.

Haha! Got an email notification about this thread, started reading for fun, then realized I posted here 10 years ago! While shocked at the level of personal detail I revealed (mostly because it was inaccurately driven by emotion), I'd say overall my views haven't changed.

Never feel bad about gaming an algorithm or a system that's designed to game you. Systems don't feel pain--at least not yet, and hopefully never. Additionally, most companies would be happy to utilize methods on this board, as long as they're not illegal. It's just that they honestly don't have people that understand how.

If I do indeed cross the 7-figure line I intend to this year (was flat broke just 2 years ago) I'll post my 20-year journey through IT and morality and hopefully it'll help a lot of people. *Peace!* :)

Yeah, I feel more bad about using a laptop and very bad about using a mobile phone.
Each and every laptop & mobile phone, if not made in China, has some components that are made in China.
And as we all know, the major brands (their outsourced manufacturing partners too), literally quite often indulge in slave type labour conditions when manufacturing in China.
So, I feel immoral about me being a beneficiary of such slave type of labour, by using products (laptop, mobile phone) that are manufactured through such slave type labour.
Yeah, freaking hypocritical human beings. If you do something yourself, to feel bad about, it is food for thought. But, on the other hand, if you are a beneficiary of the same, but done by someone, then it is fine, nothing to feel bad about.
Feeling bad about doing blackhat ? Sorry to say, what a joke. Instead, feel bad about using a laptop, a mobile phone. I think, what we all must now do, is clean our souls by throwing away any laptops & mobile phones which we use.

True

I feel extremely bad about doing honest work to my clients as a freelancer. So far, the best campaigns (lots of conversions) I did for these companies ended up with them either threatening to sue me or stopping my retainer and doing the campaign by themselves (or with cheaper freelancer). I have to tell you guys, I feel like shit on a daily basis. The only hope that keeps me doing it is that's not permanent.
