Blackhat VS Whitehat

I have come to the conclusion after trying to make money Blackhat and Whitehat that both require the same amount of work, time and resources, if not Blackhat actually requires more work. (Whitehat can require more capital but its worth it in the long run)

I think the reason most people turn to Blackhat is that they think it is a quick and easy way to "Make Money Online" when in fact the opposite is true.

Why put all your effort and time into Blackhat techniques to make money, that only have a short life span, get shut down quickly, your earnings get taken away when your caught etc etc, when you could be focusing your efforts on Whitehat techniques which are more long term and which you can build a solid sustainable business model and income from.

I have learned this lesson, instead of dancing on a knifes edge wondering if i will get caught for using Blackhat techniques, constantly worrying if my earnings will be taken away, i focused on Whitehat techniques, mainly PPC and CPA offers and i can tell you the effort was worth it.

I am now earning a good sum each month and things are only set to get better as i scale my PPC campaigns. The main point is i have a sustainable legit source of income now by refocusing my energy on Whitehat PPC instead of unreliable Blackhat streams of income. Which do you prefer, to be in the online money making game for the long-term(whitehat) or short-term(blackhat).

But dont get me wrong i know there are Blackhat experts out there making a killing, better than i will ever do, but do you really think you can reach this level, im a bit skeptical, i believe its is very hard to get to a level in the Blackhat world where you can have enough knowledge to constantly make a solid good income.

Anyway thats just my 2 cents, feel free to rip it apart, but this is just from someone how has been down both roads.

i think it is because blackhat usually requires less capital to pull it off. most smart people will use blackhat at first to get enough $ to finance their whitehat ideas.. you can still use your bh methods as side projects for extra income once your wh methods are in place and earning, but it wont be such a big deal if you get banned on those things as long as your legit stuff is still in place.

I think that a part of it is the mindset too. When people think white hat, they may think things like "writing articles, asking people for links, etc" which just sounds boring.

But black hat sounds exciting, it sounds cool. Exploitation, back doors, stuffing, etc.

However! Like you mentioned DrGonzo, black hat tends not to be a long term gig, and that really, really sucks. I look at some of the traffic i've commanded with my past "tricks" and it blows my mind to think how better off I would have been if I had taken the time to build a list with that traffic back then.

Black hat tends to be built on finding exploitations and loopholes that are against the system, and this model is not a strong one to build a long term business on. Now that being said, I still love coming on here and reading all about the latest things and getting involved. It is fun!

But its nice not having to worry about being banned....

I think you have to know blackhat to survive in the whitehat world. You never know when Google will make some big change and then your legit whitehate efforts get jammed. Or when massive trends like social bookmarking take over and your blackhat competitors take over your SERPs spot using these techniques. Even if you don't use all the blackhat techniques you need to know them or you could get caught with your pants down.

I think it's the time to getting actual returns for your efforts that actually attracts people to blackhat. Also, I personally feel that blackhat is way too exciting - especially since it requires you to innovate constantly all the time to stay ahead ..

i feel it is art when you use blackhat to build a whitehat site and make that whitehat site legit. Which= Greyhat.... Now if i only could manage to perfect my blackhat skills. then learn whitehat skills... Jeez everything in life takes work.

it's best to use blackhat money to invest in more stable income streams. as always don't put all your eggs in one basket.

know your "enemy/competition" springs to mind if you take a 100% whitehat route....
