I'm just wondering what the difference is between Whitehat Marketing and Blackhat Marketing. I'm completely new to the industry. From what I can gather, Whitehat is doing everything 100% by the book, where blackhat is more bending those rules, but still staying within the legal restrictions.

Can anyone help me out by letting me know what the pro's/cons are for these, Also, is there a location where video's are available (video's that show how to do things, I can't learn things via reading, I'm a visual learner)?

I'm very interested in marketing, but find myself getting very confused with the plethora of information that is to be found here. Maybe I'm biting off a little more than I can chew by starting out here to begin with but I believe if you're gonna learn to race, learn right from the horse and not from the stand.

I'm very motivated to learn, so any help would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks

The general outline is something like this:

Whitehat
- pros: long-term
- cons: low income slowly building up

Blackhat
- pros: short-term
- cons: high income vanishing quickly (hit and run)

As to which one you wanna go with is entirely up to you... depending on your skills, motivation, and personality...

Remember you're either hanging on the cross... or banging in the nails... we all make our own choices.

Right now, I'm hanging on the cross because I'm not exactly sure what style would best suit my character or personality.

Maybe someone could hint me in a direction based off of these few characteristics that I hold.

- I cannot lie, for any reason.
- I'm financially strapped right now, so faster to start would be more for me, then slow it down over time once I'm comfortable with my abilities and newly found skills.
- I'm a participant of the largest money moving industry in the world (Forex - Foreign Currency Exchange) but do not promote any software related to it.
- I'm a stay at home dad that wants the most for his kids.

These are just a few characteristics about me that could help someone who understands IM get a better understanding of me to help point me in the right direction, I know that it all depends on the person and the like, but right now, I'm in the middle of a crossroad with many many many different roads branching off from it, I'm spinning around in circles because I just don't know which road will be likely to lead me down the road to my own success, in other words, you could say I know so little that even half way through learning something, I may not know if it's right for me. I just don't want to spend the next 5 months learning something when there was something else that could have suited me alot better. I've jst recently learned what SEO was, there are alot of abbr.'s that are used here loosly that I don't understand and when I see a post that has abbr. after abbr. I'm like "WTF does this mean" (This is what I meant by I may have taken on more than I can handle as a newbie)

SEO is definitely something you're going to have to learn if you're doing IM. Most importantly keyword research... as this will tie in into pretty much any type of online marketing methods you go with.

If you're strapped on cash, you have to accept that any solid income from IM will come relatively slowly from dedication and persistence... judging by your character things like ewhoring are not really for you, even though that's the quickest way to make some cash.

I'd suggest to get into building minisites to make money through adsense, amazon products, CPA (affiliate networks that pay per action, like a free lead or sale)...

You can even outsource it for quite cheap, just find someone to do the content for you and some link building.... pick trending niches like "christmas gifts" that you know will get a lot of traffic, that one specifically might already be too competitive for newbies, but you get the point!

Ya, after learning what SEO was, I knew immediately that it was something that I was going to have to learn, and you're right, I'm not really into anything e-whoring, and I'm very particular about the kind of product I'll market because of my curse of honesty (believe me, it's a curse lol).

So then for my first step, I should try to locate any visual aids I can on SEO such as keyword research, as I find once I have the basics of something, I can understand text material better, I just can't learn from text material to start with.

Is one of the main differences between whitehat, and blackhat the tools that are used? For example, autoblogs would fall under what catagory, or does it?

For most cases, if you're using any tools you're already leaning towards the blackhat side... as you're probably trying to automate and scale things up, which in general are against most TOS's... there is nothing wrong with it really, blackhat doesn't mean illegal or fraud, so in most cases you're just saving yourself a lot of time and making more money. Autoblogs would fall under blackhat for sure... but this is more borderline between whitehat and blackhat.. as autoblogs are relatively safe for long-term income.

ok, so I'm not sure then what I would fall under, I'm not sure exactly the extent of blackhat activities, but it seems to me from some things I've read is that whitehat is a very manual way to do things, while blackhat is less hands on, and more generated at "The click of a button" so to speak. Well, my time is mostly consumed by my family life, being a stay at home dad and all, I have to keep up with a 2 year old, so I think I'm leaning more towards the less hands on approach, such as autoblogging, I've looked at a few products but I believe there is a rule against stating names, so I'll stay away from doing that, but there are a couple that I have been looking at. If I'm automating it I guess I can't really be picky about my own personal morals.
