I take it most go one way or the other. If you were starting out which way would you choose and why?
It really is based on personal preferences. I started off with blackhat. There are pros and cons for both. Maybe you can try researching more about both.
I like the Gray One..not black nor white because now days Google screwed up
Title of the thread looks racist.
Blackhat is the ONLY way.
There are definitely pros and cons to both sides. I had always been on the white hat side. Made my own websites, videos, products etc. Not that its bad to do that, its just, when you learn things about black hat and how you can keep yourself from getting caught, and you put it to use, its hard to not want to do it haha. I just made a website yesterday. Took my like 30 mins to take it from HTTrack to full site with my business on it. Going through coding from scratch would have taken way longer. Designing and all.
I do blackhat that gives results like whitehat.
Blackhat allows you to get results quickly.
Whitehat allows you to get a long-term result.
I do both.
It doesn't matter if you're black or white. ~Michael Jackson~ =P
There's nothing called "Whit hat" In Google Eyes. If you are trying to increase your SERP, Its Black Hat.
Whitehat = no results
Blackhat = results
everyone has a different perception as to what "blackhat" and "whitehat" are. in google's eyes the only white hat eo you can do is just make good quality content that naturally gets linked to. making any backlinks yourself to your site is in google's eyes as non whitehat.
but a lot of people now say whitehat is manual backlinks with good quality content. and blackhat is seo by using software, mass spam, hacking (maybe), and buying links from link networks.
I would say I am more grey hat because I often make very high quality Tier 1 links and then use some automation on the other tier. but I also take advantage of other blackhat seo techniques that get results.
no one can truly say they are "whitehat" (in the eyes of google) if they have ever built a single backlink to their own sites
Take the best practices and methods of each, mix and modify them in a way that's most appropriate for your niche, competition, product, short-term or long-term plans, specific goals, etc. Then just full steam ahead. Black or white, who cares. I don't really think you can really understand the depths of seo unless you can practice both as is needed.
An example of this would be to throw quickly ranking short term sites into 20 niches, find out what converts the best and build a more white-hat authority site in that niche. This is a really simplistic example but the point is you lose so many options when you limit yourself to one "hat".
unless it's a rainbow hat?
Separate names with a comma.
