im curious to what skill sets do most black hatters have?

- light programming?
- basic html/css ?
- owns a business?
- been doing it web for over 5 years? 3 years? 10 years?
-

im just wondering what qualifies a senior black hatter vs a newbie or an ametuer.

Experience is what matters, not your technical skillset.
Other than that? Programming helps a lot, and a deep technical understanding of how websites and all the related technology works.
Also, don't underestimate creativity.

It seems a lot of blackhatters (or the younger generation) enjoy or enjoyed online gaming, I personally used to be a gaming addict, a few years ago my addiction changed to the BlackHat game

None of the skills you require to succeed cannot be picked up from the internet, so I would say hard work and determination play a key role. Most importantly you'll need that thirst for success that will keep you going in spite of failure. Like all businesses, you will fail the first few times when you're just starting out.

Majority of the real blackhats (not forum spammers calling themselves blackhats) are from the security background in my experience. Most, if not all have some knowledge of code.

The difference between a 'senior' blackhatter as you called it, is being able to 'create' his or her own methods whether by scripts or another way and not just copy pasta someone else code/script.

Do you honestly think a blackhatter that cannot understand the code in a clickjacking script is really considered a true blackhatter? Just a script kiddie in my book.

Totally agree there. If you don't have a grasp of the basics of how computers function and the ability to at least understand code then how can you understand what you're or your competition are doing when you use blackhat techniques?

(I think another key skill of blackhatters is being sick of working for other people on their terms )

depends. U need motivation and a strive. A lot of people either are pursuing education OR working full time jobs and doing this on the side. So for some they can see it as trying to have a supplemental income OR replacement income. although having it on the side and having a steady job is always nice.

then u have the college dropouts who are just trying to make their way through life.

IMO all you need is to get lucky. I've heard people figuring it out in 2-3 months with barely any capital investment getting to $200 a day. Then you have people like me work a whole year on and off because I'm more of a lazy person. Doing less then $100 a day.

No actual education is needed besides reading learning and asking questions which is why it's cool. It's almost like class except the reward is not grades but money.
