Okay, I'll try that again. Similar to my last post, but this time offering a fixed salary (you tell me your salary expectations). Before you read the job post, here are the basic personal requirements:
1. You must be legally based in the U.S. or Canada. If you're in Delaware, Connecticut or Colorado, I can hire you as an employee. Otherwise, you'd be a contractor.
2. You must be able to meet with me via Zoom for a quick interview and weekly going forward throughout our collaboration.
3. You must apply via PM and include a brief cover letter, your email address and your LinkedIn profile link.
All three points work for you? Great! Read on.
I'm looking for someone who can help us with unconventional marketing/growth strategies. I think these people are called "Growth Hackers" these days. I don't really care what you want to call yourself. We've been growing nicely over the past few years, but all we do are traditional marketing campaigns. We need some fresh blood - someone who can think outside the box and come up with more viral campaigns. Here are things you WILL NOT BE REQUIRED to do.
1. Facebook, Google ads: We're good at that. This is where a good chunk of our sales is coming from. Don't need help with it.
2. SEO: We're good at that. About 50% of our traffic and sales comes from organic search.
3. Social Media and Blog Content: We're good at that.
4. PR: We suck at it, but we just hired some fancy PR firm that is taking over that part.
5. Twitter: We suck at it, but Twitter sucks in general and I don't want to touch that platform.
What I need you to do is the following:
1. Recommend and execute new channels for marketing.
2. Increase engagement and followers on our social media accounts. Remember, I said we're good at Social Media content. We're not so good at Social engagement. Hopefully you are.
3. Grassroots marketing ideas and execution. There are tons of forums, subreddits, groups, etc. relevant to our niche. We never engaged those. I wouldn't know how in the first place but hopefully you know how. If so, talk to me.
You are not expected to do all the work. I know there are tons of tools and service providers here on this Forum as well as on other marketplaces. I don't have the time to go through all of these offerings to vet them and pick them. I also don't have enough experience to know which sellers are full of BS and which ones are actually honest with a valuable service offering. I do smell BS from a hundred miles away if I meet and talk to a person though (hence the requirement to meet for the interview). The successful candidate would be more like a manager, creating the strategy, and then work with service providers for the execution while managing these service providers. We obviously will cover all expenses in addition to your compensation.
Compensation:
Tell me your salary expectation. I don't care about hours, I care about impact by the way. None of my current employees are paid by the hour, they're all paid a fixed salary, they know what I expect from them and I honestly don't care if they get it done in 20 hours per week or if they take 60 hours per week. Most of my key staff have been on payroll for over three years, with no complains about compensation so I assume they either make their impact felt in 20 hours per week or are okay with the salary they're getting for 60 hours per week. So again, tell me what you think your salary should be (doesn't have to be in your application, we can discuss this via Zoom) and we will find a way to move forward. Another FYI, every single one of our staff who has been with us for three years owns stock in the company. I will never offer stock to someone who just joins, but if someone sticks around and does a good job, usually the engagement is being extended (more responsibilities, fancier title) and stock options are offered at that point. One of my employees started as just a contractor helping with product delivery and two years later, he became the General Manager owning stock options which may be worth nothing in 10 years or may be worth millions of dollars in 10 years.
Equal opportunity: This shouldn't even be mentioned but we are an equal opportunity employer. In a nutshell, I don't care what nationality you are (as long as you're legally based in the U.S. or Canada), we're color blind when it comes to skin, your gender is just a letter on your ID which says nothing about your competency. We don't care who you're praying to (if anyone/anything), and disabilities don't mean you can't carry out the above job. So, apply if you think you're the right candidate.
