Black Hat Ranking - Case Study

Whether this is Blackhat or not...when you want to have a long-term income from your work it's wise to mix BH and WH. Especially if Adsense is involved as OP wrote.
For Adsense you will need a WH-front that looks as clean as can be.

It's the traffic generation and link-building where BH enters the arena. Preferably not targeted at your money site since losing that costs you money.

Will adsense ban you, if they notice a lot of spam links pointing to your site? I see a lot of websites with tons of links in seoquake and they have adsense. Half of it must be links created with xrumer/scrapebox.. they just have to much links compared to the person that's on 2nd spot..

I was out today and yesterday, but here are the updated stats:

Day 4

4/4 sites indexed;
5 more articles written (not yet posted);

Rankings for the sites

Site #1: 27th Position (one squidoo lens + blog comments to squidoo);
Site #2: Indexed but not in rankings (one squidoo lens + blog comments to squidoo);
Site #3: 67th Position (no links built yet);
Site #4: 29th Position (no links built yet);

Tomorrow's Todo List

Create 2 Squidoo Lens for the remaining sites;
Create 4 Weebly Sites;
Post an article for each site at UAW (pointing to both the money sites, Squidoo and Weebly);

Additional Information

As you can see, in under a week all of the sites are indexed and 3/4 are already ranking for the main keyword, 2 of them have no backlinks.
Yahoo Site Explorer hasn't indexed any of the sites yet;

Where are you tracking the rankings?

I have used serptracker.org for a while now. It only allows two sites per account, but unlimited keywords for those sites. It does nothing you couldn't do on your own, but provides nice little graphs to track your rankings.

I'm tracking the rankings through Market Samurai. With a single click it updates me the current ranking, backlinks and indexing state for all the keywords that I'm targeting for in a project.

Unfortunately you still have to go through all your projects and click update in order to know whether you are performing good or not.

I would just like to say congrats on doing the work. It is really refreshing to see a thread where someone is keeping up with posting what they have going on. Even I am guilty of losing track of a thread and moving on. I would like to see where this goes.

I currently have quite a few different sites and am testing out different methods of backlinking. I will write something up when I figure out what is the best method I can find or the worked for me.

One thing I do have to say is that building trust with Google is a lot of help. By building trust I mean getting good links from content that has to do with your niche. I actually was really lucky and had a couple of people that gave me backlinks from their sites without me doing anything for them. I think that I helped a couple of my sites pretty well.

Another thing, and this is just an idea you could try with one of your sites, is link bating. You could test it out, and see if it works.

How I do it, and I am by no means a pro, but I am learning, is I write an article about a very popular niche, something that is very competitive and gets scraped alot. Then I post this article on goarticles or ezinearticles with a backlink to one home page of my site and an inner page of my site.

What happens then is people will scrape your article, which I am not 100% sure of how they are doing this, as I have never done it, but they will end up posting your article on their blog or website. I know that some of them remove the links or strip the links from the article, but others leave the links in and this will give you a backlink.

I actually received two backlinks of pagerank 3 and 2 from doing this with a weight loss article.

Hope that helps out your adventure and keep us posted on how things are going.

P.S. If you can not tell from my signature, I have also seen great results from link pushing type back links. It seems to work out pretty well as I am seeing some pretty good results on 3 of my websites right now. It just takes a little more work, but when you think of it, it would fit into your plan of article marketing because that it is all it pretty much is.

I'm using this

very basic but it does the job.

Today was a pretty productive day. I was able to complete the Todo list I posted yesterday and a few more stuff.

Day 5

4/4 sites indexed;
3/4 sites ranking higher than yesterday;
1/4 sites earned something at Adsense;

Rankings

Site #1: 19h Position;
Site #2: Indexed but not in rankings;
Site #3: 52nd Position;
Site #4: 21th Position;

My thoughts: All the sites went up, except the one that hasn't been ranked yet. I'm having a hard time with that one, but with today's link building I think it will start ranking in no time.

Earnings

Site #1: €0 (All time: 0€)
Site #2: €0 (All time: 0€)
Site #3: €0 (All time: 0€)
Site #4: €0.26 (All time: 0.26€)

My thoughts: Within less than a week I got my first earnings at one of the sites. I wasn't expecting to earn anything until I got to the first page.

Linkbuilding

Every site has now two Web 2.0 Properties linking to it;
Every Web 2.0 Property have been blasted with blog comments;
Every site has one article submitted at UAW with links to the money site, Squidoo and Weebly. They will start submitting to directories by tomorrow;

Tomorrow's Todo list

Build a Master Auto-Approve List and spread around 2000 comments to each Web 2.0 Property;
Create an additional Web 2.0 Property for each site (I would appreciate suggestions!)

Additional Information

Within 1 week I got my first earnings and almost all of the sites ranking for the main keyword. One of the sites isn't ranking. If it's still not ranking by tomorrow I will ping it and blast a few comments directly to it to see what's the result.

Can you explain more about what criteria you use to select your niches?

For this type of sites, I usually take in consideration several different aspects.

1. Top 10 Competition - Analyse the first page results for backlinks, PR, domain age, etc. If they are too strong, chances are that you won't succeed.

2. Traffic- If the competition is not that strong, then you want to make sure that there is enough traffic. Use Google's Keyword Tool or Google Traffic Estimator.

3. Related Niches - If you get to #1 for your main keyword, you will want to get more and more traffic by striking related niches. I usually only pick niches where I know that there are atleast a couple related keywords that I can strike for in the future;

4. CPC - This is not really important for me. The most important is to analyse whether your keyword has commercial value or not. If you find a keyword with a huge load of traffic, low competition but no commercial value, then it won't be worth the shot. Try to strike products.

With Market Samurai you can analyse most of these aspects, but it's important that you also use your common sense to analyse your keywords.
I have came across some keywords that in Market Samurai looked like "OMG I'M FUCKING RICH" but in fact they weren't that good.

Ok, these days I wasn't able to work anything. I've only scrapped a bigger auto-approve list, but I'm still working on it and I will need a couple more days to finish it.

Day 10

4/4 sites indexed;
3/4 sites ranking higher than 5 days ago;
2/4 sites earned something at Adsense;

Rankings

Site #1: 13rd Position;
Site #2: 32nd Position;
Site #3: Not in ranking results (dropped from the 52nd position);
Site #4: 5th Position;

My thoughts: I was able to rank the site #2, but site #3 dropped from the Google Results. During this week I will build some high-PR links for it to see if I can rank it again.

Earnings

Site #1: €0.07 (All time: 0.07€)
Site #2: €0 (All time: 0€)
Site #3: €0 (All time: 0€)
Site #4: €0.30 (All time: 0.56€)

My thoughts: Site #1 and Site #4 are already earning. However, I expect earnings to increase when I achieve the top 3 results.

Linkbuilding

As I said, nothing has been done during the last days. I have been spamming the 2 Web 2.0 Properties that I have built for each site and UAW has been submitting some articles, linking directly to the money sites.
I have never used UAW for ranking sites, but I have heard that it takes at least one month to see the results.

Tomorrow's Todo list

Continue building the Master Auto-Approve list.

Additional Information

It's hard to rank brand new sites, because you just can't spam directly to the money site, or you will end up out of the search results. You need to take it slow and steady.
If you need fast results, then you should buy some aged domains and then you should be good to go.

I have only received one thanks in one of my posts. I know that you don't have to thank me, but I now started school again and I have lots of different things to do.

I'm here showing that it is possible to rank using blog comments, Web 2.0 Properties and UAW.
I'm here showing that it is possible to make money from Micro Niche Sites (you have already seen some earnings, and much more to come).
I'm here showing that it doesn't take that much effort to make money online.
I'm here sowing that if a teen can make money, then so can you.

Pushing the thanks button is not a big deal, but it would mean a lot for me, and keep me encouraged to keep you guys updated.

I hope you are liking my thread :)

Cool post here! Good thing you're already making money.

Just a dumb question, what's your comp like? I just wanted to know if your competitors had a lot of backlinks or what was going on.

thanks, really cool stuff otherwise.

Hi

great info, please keep it up, as this could get good!

Thanks given

Awesome work... taking notes and trying to study this plan...
Thanks for taking the first step to show us how you are working on your project, especially on what you have done and what you will be doing...

Cheers

Good job so far! More than anything, taking action and consistency are the keys. I'm always testing something out and going through different steps to see outcomes. This is the way to learn... whether your rankings improve or not, I'm sure you'll be learning valuable lessons along the way.

Reading threads are great... but nothing like getting your hands dirty to tell you what really works!

How's going on?
And what are the monthly exact searches for those keywords?
From my sites it looks like google takes much more time to show you first page for terms with higher search count even if the competition is less
