Hello, I'm looking for a good bitcoin wallet. It must work on Red Hat.

The issue I'm having is all the wallets out there want to download the block chain but the block chain is bigger then my drive!

Is there any local BitCoin wallet that has a shrunk block chain?

    Thanks :0)

Use Xapo buddy, you can request an invitation for a debit card that hooks up to your BTC wallet.

They have a vault with banking insurance, mobile app & access points across the world.

It's web based too. I do have a thread about it too.

Your right not to trust online wallets. Just a quick google search will reveal what an absolutely terrible idea that is. My recommendation is electrum. It doesn't store the blockchain locally instead you connect to servers hosting the blockchain. Its also fast and easy to install.

Why would you not trust online wallets? I get monthly interest payments on my bitcoin that is better than you get in the bank these days.

Just because MtGox maybe?Just because bitcoin security it's in wallet's encryption and by trusting an online wallet you give out to others not your pass, but the entire wallet.
Many things ran very nice (interests in your case) until they died, in bitcoin world. There's just one tiny problem: they die inadvertently and often forget to pay debts.

Because if this really was a major issue, the number of online wallets created wouldn't look like this - https://blockchain.info/charts/my-w...ageString=1&show_header=true&scale=0&address=
People are stupid but they aren't that stupid?

They are stupid, you can trust me or just read a bit of bitcointalk forum.
I don't want to offend anyone, but I've seen soo many things.Like a bunch of people telling someone "Don't send money to this guy, he looks like a scammer".And what he does? He sends money to the scammer. Why? Because the scammer promised the easy way.
I've seen this so many times, people don't act rational every time.
Safest bet is your own wallet.Paranoids can push it even further with virtual machines and paper wallets. No computer touches your wallet after creating it.
    But that's too crazy imo.

I don't know mate, you will get the occasional retards - your example does nothing other than suggest (but not prove) that *some* people are very stupid.
I think you don't get exponential growth on any technical platform without some level of reliablity. Please prove me wrong.

Sorry but in this case you're paranoid rather than concerned with your money.
I am myself with blockchain.info for 4 years now and lots of people are as well, some of them processed 100000+$.
Well if you're about to store millions your fears may seem justified but in that case I won't go with BTC or any other online and anonymous system for obvious reasons (besides BTC rate being unstable). But I'd guess we're here talking about thousands and with that you can go ahead and use blockchain.info.
So you here compare a service that is around for so many years with some shady deal on bitcointalk? What a legit point!
If blockchain.info was to scam people, why would they wait for you or the OP, they already could do it.

Hey, not saying "Coinbase will scam you" here, just "keep your ass safe".
I truly hope that bitcoin will get rid of that connection with illegal stuff and step up to be what deserves to be: a world's coin.

So how can our ass be unsafe with coinbase or blockchain.info if you don't think they're about to fool us?
Only after one will need an ID to use it and Bitcoin operations become regulated..
    Lol'd hard.

Eh? You mean make it no longer anonymous - stripping from it one of the things that helped to both make it what it is today and get it off the floor in its infancy.
That would just make it another currency like many others we have?

Not "just another", but "the only" currency.
Bitcoin was built with security in mind, not anonymity.Hiding financial activities from authorities was easy in the beginning, because they were unprepared. But nowadays is getting harder and harder to hide. And imo that's good, because bitcoin shouldn't be a hiding spot for crooks, but a fast and safe way for people to trade goods(oh, and cheap).

Blockchain is great, if you do not trust most BTC places you might as well just cash it all and fill your mattress with dollar bills.

you can use http://www.poloniex.com, its a exchange & trading, even you can lend your coins to earn some percentage instead of of just keeping in your wallet, i am not sure it will help regarding your question but you can try here.
