So I used my phone app to make an eCommerce bitcoin payment. It's been over 1 day and it still doesn't have a single confirmation.

I don't have a lot of experience with bitcoin, but this seems like a really long time. How common is long wait times like this?

I never heard of a transaction taking that long to be confirmed, I asked ChatGPT:

Maybe some other BHW members can explain what happened or guide you towards a solution.

increase the fee of your tx to get it approved in the next confirmed block.
read RBF - replace by fee

After 2 days of the transaction being stuck, I found the RBF feature on my app (android wallet from bitcoin.org). It didn't give me the option to choose the fee, it was pre-selected, and I ended up paying an additional 40% transaction fee on top of the original. And I though paypal had high fees.

I guess if you're selling drugs or something else that can get you arrested, it's worth paying those fees for crypto, but why are you guys using it for internet marketing related stuff?

Btc fees known to be very high u can use usdt or litecoin etc

Basically if you are moving 100$ its not worth it.
When you are moving 10,000$ and above it feels that the fees are low... very low.

BTC fees are usually pretty manageable. If you need a transaction to go through fast go to mempool.space and check out the avarage fee at that moment. You can get pretty much feeless payments with BTC if you use WoS (through lightning).
