Should I put a button to a gallery page or simply put a gallery on my front page and name em.

in other words

Is it less interaction if they dont leave the front page when clicking through a gallery?

You would really need to do A/B testing and compare the results to give you hard data on your question. Alternatively you could put a row of 3 images for example on your page (sort of as a teaser to the gallery) with the button next or below it and see how many times people actually click on it.
