Hey guys!

I am really struggling with something at the moment. I have to make a big decision, I hope some of you guys can help me out.

So it all started today, I started talking to an old friend of mine who is on University. He got a project going on that I saw on facebook, I asked him if he needed any help. So after some talking he showed another side project of him. He gave me the website and the website looked bad, (really really bad). However he was getting 1k views a month only from google, and it is only his side project. He barely knows what SEO is.

I showed him my youtube channel which is 90% related to his niche website. I got legit 50k views and 200 subscribers, so he asked me if I wanted to do a Joint Venture. I make the videos and he gets hold of the website with his friend. We split 1/3 of the adsense money we make.

But the problem is that it is only a side project of him, and he doesn't know much about IM. I know him good enough that he will let me work harder then he would. I could easily make the same sort website twice as good looking, better SEO + a youtube related niche to it.

What should I do? I am really struggling with making a decision.

Cheers :D

EDIT:

Seems this good to accept?

Ok I made a deal. He offered me this and I accepted it.

* I will get all the adsense money from youtube
* I will get 1/3 of the adsense money made from the website
* We are with 3 people, they will update the site keep it clean and SEO the website. Also will THEY write articles for the website
* All I do is making youtube videos about the articles.

Seems look a good deal?

Friends + business = problems

For the most part yes. But..... You can do business with friends aslong as both individuals understand the boundaries.

Example 1 (how it should be)

You: Hey I'm selling cars now.
Friend: Awesome! I need a car. Whats the cheapest you have?
You: I have a cash car for $3000.
Friend: Cool. I'm buying that

Example 2 (how it should NOT be)

You: Hey, I'm selling cars
Friend: Awesome! I need a car. Whats the cheapest you have?
You: I have one for $3000.
Friend: Awe come on man! We go way back! Let me get your price. Be cool man
You: Ok. I'll just tell my landlord that I'm gonna pay rent this month by "being cool" and I'll tell my kids that they can eat "cool" this month.

Lol :D

This, if you go into business state what needs to happen so you can say you have an oral contract. Make it clear so there is no miscommunication. Alternaticvely make an actual contract, no thing major just what he needs to do for the website etc.

If you really doubt it though you could offer to buy it from him. Fix up the website itself and improve it. Connect it with your youtube account and in the long run you should make more money.

Classic problems with friends in business. lol @ the illustration.
So I take it you have dealt with this plenty of times likes me...

I think I am going to make a similar website to his + I am going to make a big youtube channel for promotion. He is not that good of a friend of mine. But yeah it is kinda harsh to say, nah man I am not going to to JV with you. I am stealing your idea and make 100 time more money.

Isnt it?

Yeah, if you want him to remain a friend, don't do this.

It is not really a friend but, I know him for years. Some times I see him at the local pub, and talk a bit. Nothing more. So yea.. It is my neighbor btw..
