Yes, usernames can be changed at any time. So you can start growing an account, and switch the username later if you come across one. As far as aged accounts, I'm not sure. Aged accounts is just a plus, because aged social media accounts tend to be less restricted than brand new ones. If I can't find aged ones I'll just take it slower with them.

I considered that, but part of my strategy is to use a new TLD that should draw more clicks. And those are $20-$40 to register fresh, a bit expensive to get a bunch of them right away. So we'll see how far one gets me to start...
I have a mobile detector setup that should send visitors to different landing pages based on whether they are android/ios and desktop/mobile/tablet. I will finish up some web design when I get back from a trip and hopefully have a test done (using one of my existing large accounts), to see how things convert, by Sunday.

Ok but consider buying different domains as you don't want all your accounts getting banned because using the same domain

For my test I will only be using one domain. But if I see the results I want to obviously I will buy a few more domains and take a more sustainable approach. But no point in buying 5+ domains worth over $100 if my idea sucks. Even though I'm confident in it...

You can buy 5 domains for $10 easily nowadays. Just look up for coupons

Anyway update:

Total: 79,765 +6,130
So growth went up a bit, despite my main account struggling. I didn't follow at all on my main account though, so what was gained was done completely on its own, no automated tasks, I wanted to see how fast it could grow on its own.
For my spam setup I have the landing pages and os/mobile detector working (so the right offers are served to the right users).
Unfortunately when I went back to my CPA site none of the offers were still available, so I need to wait until I can get some good mobile app install offers again. Once that is set up, I'll run a test post on accounts 3 and 4, then see how the traffic converts.

I did, unfortunately they only take your traffic and send it to a random offer/install. I want to be able to control the exact install or offer that is being shown.

To tell you the truth i believe the name of an account plays a minimal part in amazing growth.
If either of those accounts follow me i would follow back the one with the best content. Content dictates all, not the name of the account.
Only time i see the name of the account useful is if some ones searching for a page in a certain niche. Someone wants to see tattoos pages and you own @tattoos most likely your page will be first to get seen but it doesn't really mean that the page will gain the follow

This is somewhat true, my main account gets manual content, and it sees by far the best results. The others have so-so content, and while they are gaining followers, they really aren't gaining activity. I'm not sure if Instagram is somewhat limiting my accounts' visibility or what.
Now the spam tactic is more enticing than ever. I have a neat landing page setup, the only problem is the apps I'm promoting are kind of crappy. So I'll look into OGMobi and other networks for now, CPALead just doesn't have the mobile app offers I need. But anyway if I can create an account that is getting visibility past my own followers, I think that's my best chance. I've been really busy lately, and I'll keep the 5 accounts going since the whole point is for this to be on autopilot anyway. But at the same time I'll do more research in spam.
I did test my landing page on account 3. I feel like the problem was my account, not my landing page, as it only got 50 or so clicks, and no downloads. I mean that account has been fairly dead, only averaging 250 likes per pic.

Fairly meh week in terms of growth, mainly because I wasn't as active on the main account. I need to decide where I'm going with the accounts pretty soon. The first account I may field offers for soon, and try to sell (not here though). The second account was always intended to become my personal. The third and fourth accounts are just really inactive, and not gaining much. The activity has started to improve some, but they are a long ways off from becoming anything. The fifth has grown faster than I expected actually, and is in an interesting niche.
With @nature recently getting banned from Instagram, and many other large accounts. It's clear in my mind that no account is safe. So having a gem/cornerstone account like I have worries me. Maybe with Instagram, temporary/spam tactics are now the way to go? On the other hand I read an article about a blogger getting paid $5,000 to $15,000 per pic on Instagram by clothing companies...
I have an interesting twist to my landing pages I will maybe try out in the next week. But other than that I'll just leave things to run on autopilot as usual.
