I salved away in the office for 10+ years. When I made
in a day more than I made in a fortnight on a job I was
like holy crap, why didn't I do it earlier.
The funny thing is, when I killed my job, things started to
happen for me faster than I though possible. So, keep on
doing that. You can make it.

yeah cash202 that is the dream. If I can do this in my spare time, then with a bit more rigidity and treating it more like a full time job, I really hope I can make it work. It is my passion at the moment and I think that helps.
Just want to be 100% sure before I make the leap though as I have a mortgage, wife and 16 month old daughter to think of, hence wanting lots of financial security before I hand the resignation in.

I am married and have a daughter too. No mortgage though. The thing is
when you jump ships the following happens. You have NO security anymore,
NONE. But in exchange you get the real FREEDOM.
Fair exchange IMHO.
You will never be 100% sure when you jump ships. That's 100% true.
Just think about it, this "security" you have in a job is not real anyways.
I got laid-off a few time unexpectedly, so I had to juggle credit cards
a little to get by. What sort of security is that?
The real security if what you built yourself.
