If there's no adsense involved, no links in description or in video, then they're doing it for no particular reason, at least not at present. There are people who aren't monetizing yet because they're waiting to increase their subscribers and gain better relationships with them.

Pewdiepie and other popular channels do monetize them. Maybe you can't see them because you have adblock but I checked it out and they do have ads.
