Bidding Fee Auctions

Apologies if this is not the right section to post this in. It IS auction-related, (although obviously not 'Ebay')...

In the UK & a few other European companies, there is a company called Madbid, which operates as a "pay per bid" auction site. I'm wondering if there are any companies based in the US which are currently operating a similar system.

Obviously there WAS Swoopo, but that company is no longer trading, having gone bankrupt earlier this year.

Search for "Penny Auctions" and I think you can find plenty of them.

I've tried quibids. I bought a starter pack for $60 and started bidding on items. I eneded up winning about 120 dollars worth of items, but after using the buy it now option a few times to cut losses and other fees I spent about 85. Overall I did profit 35 dollars, but I spent money that I wasn't planning to spend.

When using these sites its important to know exaclty what you're doing and have a plan. It's easy to get caught up.

Since I'm bringing back an old thread, what do others thing about penny auctions? Has anyone thought of ways to improve the industry so that its more fair for the customers?
