BHW Trending (Upvotes System)

Well, suggesting something this big right after 2.0 is kinda ridiculous, considering the amount of work that has been already done, and everything along.


The idea of listing threads by upvotes should definitely stay separated from the Home and normal forum activity.

Upvotes could be listed just like Home: (call it Trending or whatever) and of course, click Trending to see whats Hot at BHW


Trending or Upvotes main function should be keeping the hot things in air.

Let's assume something is very popular at Trending and thread gains 100+ upvotes quickly = It could automatically become pinned for a week at Trending while also visible at Home like any other thread. This means the certain thread is pinned in subforum as well. (normally like before)

The whole system of listing should not be any different than Home threads listing, just there would be a new button under every thread, saying: Upvote This! and threads with any upvotes are already in Trending section.

Ranking system would be: more upvotes more rank, 1st ranked has the most upvotes at given moment.


At the beginning, Trending listing would be empty, and BHW members would normally browse random threads and upvote what they like.

This should result in high quality content in terms of shares downloads and various methods being seen in Trending.

Obviously, BHW marketplace, forums like HAF, Lounge should not be a part of this. (no upvote button there)


List of members who upvoted the thread should also be fully transparent, public.



Maybe it's good maybe it's not but better to say than not.

I was thinking the exact same thing today after commenting on a complete garbage post. I'll never get that minute back lol

It's really not, nor should improvements ever be labeled ridiculous at any given time. Just because you finished building your house, doesn't mean you stop making improvements.

There are people on this forum making millions and millions, never posting, not giving back because but that's what happens when your business model revolves around targeting new members, and not keeping the old ones.

I've been here for basically a decade, earn my living from everything I've learned here, seen the good and the bad, so I can, and have every right to comment and speculate... this design change shouldn't be used to be weighed in on anything at all, it's utterly meaningless when you can compared the now against what it used to be, but it's especially worst when you compared to what it could be, but as I said, it will never change because of the business model that very few here has the capability to understand
