I know I'm not the only one who is seeing this. With every new thread started I see more and more similarity to DP. Repeated questions, two word replies, inaccurate statements... Most of the activity is generated by users joined in the last few months, older members have gone quite because of so much crap that is posted lately on the forums.

Has BHW grown too large to manage? Administration, do something, before it's too late...

it won't, don't worry. If nothing else our administrators / mods are not retarded. Can't say that for DP :P

I have noticed the Mods/Administrators doing what they have to do to stop this from happening. It is hard to track every new user and prevent them from posting crap, but check out all of the users being banned that you see everyday.

I think inactive users and users which have not posted anything useful (not ty statement) should be pruned.

That's not exactly a good argument. How many users do you see banned daily on DP? Right.

i think registeration should be closed for a while. :)

I think so too. We have an avalanche of noobs happen everyday. Everyone starts somewhere yes, being a noob is nothing bad, but the ones who are in the IM for a month, who refuse to learn because they think they're veterans, teach, lead and ultimately sink all others down -- now those piss me off.

Closing the forum for new registrations, will not save the problem ... and if noobs asks crap questions, then it is not wrong... Since they are noobs, when they ask questions, their questions will look crap to other senior members...

Mods and Admin are really working hard..When I say hard, I mean, really HARD! When ever I reported the thread/post, everytime mod and admin did took some action and action was taken very fast ... Here mods are not like DP mods.. Who dont do anything ...

Word of mouth viral effects are quite exponential. I'm just afraid that moderators moderation < the amount of DP influx.

I think one of the best things concerned members can do is maintain and air of professionalism and quality in their own posts.

It can be helpful to:

*Make posts that reflect the content, style, and quality you would like from other forum members.
The idea is that by being the sort of member you want the forum to have, you encourage new members to follow suit. They will feel an obligation to act according the social quo.

*Don't participate in a post that you will get emotionally involved in.

This leads to arguments and flame wars that just drag other people in.

*Don't participate in posts that provide little value.
When the poster doesn't get a reaction they will realize they have wasted their time. They will then make an effort to provide better posts or simply leave.

*Dont provide direct answers to questions that should be answered elsewhere.

For example, if someone is asking how they make their first blog, this forum is not the place for them. The content here is for people with a higher level of experience. Instead, direct the new member to a wordpress forum. They will find more solutions and fit in better, thus leaving this forum to more like minded members.

*Use langauge that creates broader concepts and discourages ignorant responses.
If you make a post like "OMgz I got the best balckhatz concept and now I want to share..." those are the sort of responses you will get. Further, they will all be from the very same people making posts just like that one.

I would say if members can do this and leave the rest up to the mods BHW can continue to be a community full of talented people sharing worthwhile experience and solutions.

Shape.

There has been a real crack down by the mods lately to make sure that those very things don't happen. I know that they're always vigilant, but there's a real mission to clean house these days.

And sure there,s a lot of newb questions, there always are. I don't know if closing us off is the answer, as we find that in the slew of newbs there will be a few really thought provoking questions, and a few that become extremely valuable contributors. But this argument has been made just over the last few months.

BHW will NEVER become dp. That's a fact!!! As for the older members going quiet...many are busy, working on their own stuff. I know the economy has hurt many of us and we're having to work doubly hard to generate the same incomes. For myself, I have a ton of time sensitive projects that I'm working now and although I'm reading the forum once or twice a day, I haven't really had much time to post.

Every few weeks someone else posts this type of crap. It is not only in the wrong section, it is also a worthless post. If you don't like it here at BHW, do yourself a favor and leave.

THREAD LOCKED
