I've noticed an interesting thing lately. When I open up a black hat thread, I will look up again and an hour's disappeared and my eyes hurt. Seems to happen every time.

Sadly, I think most of that is skimming past "I do not knows internet" and/or "THIS IS BOGUS, I TRIED FOR HALF AN HOUR AND I'M NOT RICH YET" responses.. but it raises an interesting question:

How much time do other BHW members spend actually reading this forum on the average day? So many posts showing up at any given time, it's no small task just to stay current on the threads I'm genuinely interested in, let alone looking through older ones (and their accompanying 10 pages of comments) to see if there were any changes/complications/developments since the first post went up.

I was relatively good at time management before I started reading here. I'm going to have to work on that.

Yea, BHW is ironic, as it is a huge waste of time. Very happy I realized that before investing a lot of time into it. So many people run around downloading every share and reading every method...guess they are getting their mindset prepared :)

its always a balance between getting the most out of your time spent here. If i find myself reading countless useless threads, I'll just close all my windows and go back to work. When I find a thread or 2 of great info, I'll start taking notes and sink an hour or 2 into absorbing great information.

Just don't dwindle on the shitty noob posts. If its not a great contribution, stop reading and move on.

BHW has 249,452 members...

'nuff said!

I tell myself that the time spent here is still worth it. One simply needs to digest the information faster I guess.

Just be grateful that the threads aren't full of pics of naked ladies. That is the main reason I had to quit reading GFY. Too distracting.

I ckeck it every day for some new info to improve my workflow or get something done cheaper. But first i get the work done...

At least you leave blackhatworld with your soul intact. Try doing that with 9gag. lol :)

In order to benefit from BHW posts.... you must be able to read and comprehend fast.

I read tons of posts.... good and bad.

I do in in between tasks....

and I always find that when i am working on something.... someone happens to post something relevant to what I am working on...
lol

Sorry dude, but 7 posts, jan 2012.... And you spend SO much time on BHW... Alarm bells are ringing... Multiple accounts much? I think so.

i was also curious about how much time i was spending on bhw every day. so i wrote a program to keep track of it for me.

in 2011 i was logged on bhw for 310 out of 365 days, for a total of 716 hours and 46 minutes, averaging just under 2 hours per day. :)

You should release this program. xD I would want to use it out of curiosity.
I spend a lot of time reading and I post every now and then.

Well i dont have much of an option, because i have 2 sales threads running on BHW, so i constantely check in on them and try to drive traffic \ interest to them.

Apart from that, i will nomally open the home page and then open all interesting headlines in a new window and then one by one go over them. Sometimes i get ideas or find interesting offers

But i agree i spend way to much time browsing around which could have been better used.

I spend a lot of time reading and I post every now and then.

it was just an autohotkey script i slapped together.

Code:
settimer, bhw, 1000
return

bhw:
if(a_hour==23 and a_min==59 and a_sec==59)
{
	fileread, bhwmin, minutes.txt
	formattime, bhwdate, , MMM d

	bhwhour := floor(bhwmin / 60)
	bhwmin2 := bhwmin - bhwhour * 60

	fileappend, %bhwdate% - %bhwhour%h %bhwmin2%m`n,bhw.txt

	filedelete, minutes.txt
	fileappend,0,minutes.txt

	sleep, 2000
}

ifwinactive, Black Hat
{
	bhwsec++
	if(bhwsec >= 60)
	{
		bhwsec := 0
		fileread, bhwmin, minutes.txt
		bhwmin++
		filedelete, minutes.txt
		fileappend,%bhwmin%,minutes.txt
	}
}

return

this'll generate a txt file with a bunch of values like this

Code:
Jan 1 - 4h 44m
Jan 2 - 3h 43m
Jan 3 - 1h 42m
Jan 9 - 0h 13m
Jan 10 - 2h 33m
Jan 11 - 0h 39m
Jan 12 - 1h 41m
Jan 13 - 4h 29m
Jan 14 - 3h 4m
Jan 15 - 1h 40m
Jan 16 - 1h 5m

you can then import it into excel to do any calculations on it.

there are however some glaring problems with the program logic that i haven't bothered fixing. this was really more of a random experiment than anything.

if you do a bit of googling, there are certainly far more professional time management programs out there that can keep track of individual websites. i'd suggest just getting one of those. =P

You signed up the very day you discovered BHW? I lurked for a couple months before I signed up and I don't spend a lot of time posting unless I have something useful to contribute. Unlike some.

Particularly since my comment was on keeping up with threads and how easy it is to let your time get away from you. What part of this is relevant to how long one has been on the forum?

Not even BHW is safe from trolls.

To everyone else in the thread:

I've taken to limiting my reading to implementing ratio to no greater than 50/50 for now. hah. Hopefully, I'll get more work done if I enforce it.

I think there are way worse places to sink my time into. I've managed to completely swap my video game addiction over to IM addiction. In my eyes, this forum is one of the best places I've ever found on the web. I'm even planning on Jr.Vip.

Hahaha. Yes. Exactly that. I've more or less given up youtube and crackeddotcom at this point, as well as my xbox addiction.

I suppose if one is going to sink hours into something, this site is the best place to do it.

I already started implementing a few methods I've found this week. I'm very hopeful.
