One of the things here that bugs me a bit is the number of short posts that just say:

"thanks for the share"

"great share"

"awesome idea"

These types of posts bloat good threads, inflate post counts of users and circumvent the thanks system while offering nothing beneficial to the thread.

It is also unfair to expect the mods to be able to delete all of these posts while at the same time handling their other (more important) duties.

It wouldn't be too difficult to code a simple filter that checks posts as they are submitted. The filter could first check if the post is under a certain length and if so see if it contains one of more flag words (thanks, share, etc). If so then display a confirm message to the user reminding them that there is a thanks button and short "thank you" posts are not helpful.

I am certainly not suggesting that this is something of huge importance, but I do think it would help keep posts more to the point and encourage people to contribute quality posts in order to increase post count.
