I just requested that my software be added to the banned list and it dawned on me that I should offer to code something for the whole BHW community. Now, I'm not looking for a multi-month/year project. Just a tool/utility/small prog that a lot of members need but which isn't easy for them to do or easy to find. Ideas are very much encouraged. After I choose which of the suggestions you all post to code, I'll post it here.

Now, I am NOT looking for ideas so that I can go build a product and then charge you for it. I'm talking about something for everyone here at no charge. It will NOT be encrypted, so it could be developed further.

Please remember that there's a reason I don't post on here a lot: I don't know this stuff as well as I should. My interest is from a programmer's perspective so that I can learn and become better. So, PLEASE explain in detail what you're talking about.

Let me provide an example. I was talking to some dude one day and he asked why CF doesn't support trackbacks. I replied, "Well, what are they?" He gave a brief summary of their value and in a couple of days it was added into the product. Without his request, it still wouldn't be there. -- I need the details. :)

Here's to everyone's success!

(PM's welcome or you can email me directly if your post description exceeds the max allowed for a post.)

I need an application where I can enter a url and a list of keywords. I want the application to look up where the url ranks in Google for the keyword (only needs to check first 20 or 30 serps), how many Google results exist for the keyphrase, and how many results appear for the keyword with quotes around the keyword like "keyword".

I need to be able to run one url or multiple urls with their respective keywords so I could let it run overnight for a bunch of urls if I wish.

Results should be able to be exported to excel file (csv), and I would like to be able to control which columns get exported. Once I decide which columns to export, I would like to be able to save this default configuration for future exports.

Important to be able to control # of threads so that Google doesn't block my ip address. I do have a dsl connection that I can connect/reconnect with dial up networking, so one possibility is to have an option where the application pauses after a certain amount of lookups (like Admaster), disconnects my connection, waits X number of seconds, reconnects (to get new ip address), and continues from where it paused.

I am sure alot of BHW members could use this.

I'd say it's prolly all been done, a better question might be What cool proggie is out there but really needs to be updated? Trackback spider comes to mind but I sure there are others.

Finds like content blogs and tricks them into giving your blog a one way link.

I would like to see an open source version of 'bookmarking demon' or 'senuke'. I know that the API's on a lot of social booking sites change quick -so you have to keep updating your program for it to function right, or wait for the developer to update. So-Personal I think it would be grand if the end user could teach the program where to click and what to do to book mark and post, set up and verify an account, then let it do its thing.

Just my thoughts.

Cheers mate and good luck!

Okay, this is a great and generous offer so I'll throw an idea in the ring I've been toying with but haven't had time to sit down on myself.

This might be too large in scale for a free offer software and I'd certainly understand that, but the 2 tools I use most these days are B00kmarking D3m0n for submitting to tons of scuttle sites (using multiple accounts at each) and R$$ $ubmit for instant keyword backlinks with rss directories.

Something that could do both, plus submit to pligg sites and would run behind Tor would be freakin' awesome in my opinion.

What about a tool like over at hxxp://vallery*net/g*mail/index.php that extracts all email addresses from a gmail acount, not just the contacts?

Please be advised that during the server crash, the ContentFarmer account was trashed. I have contacted the admins 3 different times in 2 different ways and have yet to hear back from them, so I assume they're just too busy. I created this account so that I could at the very least let you all know that I won't be on the forums until they are able to resolve my primary account problems. I'll post back here when I can access the ContentFarmer account again.

Special thanks to EssentialClix for re-enabling my account. I'll be looking over these suggestions this week and most likely posting a poll to see which project is most popular.

Glad to see you're back and it's still an awesome offer whatever project you go with.

Just wanted to add that I can offer detailed info on what would be needed for the tool I suggested if you were to go with that, but since it is very involved I didn't want to write a novel length posting if it isn't necessary and waste people's time and bandwidth. :)

A PM would be nice scb with just a brief description of what they do. I don't know any of those programs or what a "scuttle site" is, so I'd have to go around hunting down those things and reading all of their stuff to figure out what it's about. I'll have to do that for the other programs that other people mentioned as well. I have a feeling this offer is going to prove very educational for me. :)

Hi CF,

all the suggested software has one negative point ... if you don;t want to keep updating it constantly it will stop working within a short few month ...

I would be grateful about a tool that would allow me to scrape amazon (or any other affiliate feed) content, organize it and then either publish it as a rss feed or articles using #tags/# that it could be used with CFP etc...

Thanks Nixte. That's very similar to what joben1 PM'd me about. I had been thinking about an Amazon module for CF, but stopped on that because some told me that an Ebay module would be preferable, but I haven't had a chance to start the Ebay module (saving for next upgrade). I believe, however, that I have some Amazon code sitting somewhere on my computer now.

This weekend is when I plan on going over all these suggestions.

Here's a suggestion: There are many ya*h00 account creators, but I have yet to find one that will initialize each account for use with ya*h00 answers, which is a laborious task. A tool which simply performs that task would be great.

Is it possible to automate WordPress MU installation? THAT would be something I would even pay for!

There are plenty of software pieces out there to install wordpress itself, but not WPMU.

SEO allite does that......................

mikemclean, raised a point. Creating a tool that installs WP / WpMU blogs in a similar fashion as EasyBloggerGenerator Does for Blogger Blogs would be neat ... It would allow for the creation of automated BlogFarms ;)

In the interest of full disclosure, automated installation is something I am looking at making an extension for my current software or a standalone (probably the former). It's a project I'd be willing to do here as well and I would build them differently, but I had indicated in my initial post that I wasn't looking to piggy back off of your ideas here for the software so felt it necessary to disclose this overlap. :)

Thanks for that. I am sure that people would be interested in knowing that you offer a discount code ($100-150 off??) for BHW members for you CFP script ;)

Also that kind of script should be able to scrape search engines for open WpMU blogs and being able to sign you up ... kind a similar to BlogSlammer and the new tool Joseph Tierney is working on. As long as it includes he features of EBG (I love how it easily interlinks blogs etc ...)

But I still hope for the Amazon script ... If someone doesn't know what I mean, have a look at:

Yes, I offer $100 off for BHW members (they just need to PM me). I see you linked to an R2B site -- just tempting me with a nemesis to do that project anyway, eh? lol.
