BHW site problems

Hey BHW, I would like to apologize if this is not the right thread section to post in. I got one client ( a friend of mine) about almost 2 years ago to build him a website. So I did using yolasite (a free web builder, I am an amateur at this lol)

So I built the website using yolasite tools, obviously it sucks. he payed me 200 bucks, i thank him for trusting me and not pushing me to my promise of what I had to deliver. Which is traffic for his business and leads he could sell to other local business partners.

The site is called eugeneroofcleaningdotyolasitedotcom ( its about pressure washing). I have taken what I have learned in BHW since I joined this site and tried applying to his site just mentioned. He has only gotten bites (about 4 people in total) but nobody willing to sign on for a contract.I have done like 4 or 5 submissions to free web directories and have seen some traffic.Im shocked But in one of the submissions I was told that there is no meta tags. meta tags? And that it would be hard for google to index my site or find it? something of that sorts.I cant even find the site on google. Im lost in what I need to do to optimize his site for local search.and get him some paying customers

What am I doing wrong?
-is it backlink problems ( still trying to learn this backlinking)
-do i need to set-up manually web 2.0 properties ( this seems like hard work)
-do i need to write articles but what good is that if its a local business

Please help BHW or point me to the right direction, I would like to make this a business. I see the hispanic market being a big market for SEO consultancy.

Actually there are alot of issues, hope that my reply helps you.
Lets start of by why didnt he buy his own domain, instead of using a subdomain, if he paid $200 then he can surely pay the $10 domain fee.

Never expect that 5 visitors would convert you need at least a 200-500 visitors to have a good average of your conversion rate, and still you have to track where your visitors come from.

Finally start by implementing 1 technique, when done start implementing the next, as many techniques can drive the website down rather than up.

Thanks for your answer, i kind of get now what technique i need to stick with. Im going to stick to backlinking for now. see its that my friend payed me to get it done for him. I sold him on the idea that i could put him on google like all his other competitors and easily. I just think i just bit more then i could chew. Im hanging in there I just wish i could see if maybe my keywords are an issue that i have on the website. I just wish someone could check it out for me and tell me if i am going in the right direction

You need to get the site on it's own domain name. Having it as a yola site weakens any search engine rankings considerably.

Oh and as for keywords, university of oregon football? Ducks football schedule? Um, no. Not relevant to roof cleaning, take it out.

You should firstly move the website to its own domain. Then, regarding web 2.0 proprieties, this mostly means creating one blog at Blogger.com and one Hub or Lens ( either hubpages.com or squidoo.com )
You should do some blog posting to related blogs and Article Submission and then see some improvements.

Hey how did you know what my keywords are?? So I should change my keywords that relate to pressure washing? I just thought using "university of oregon and etc would help me optimize the site for local search.Im doing newbie mistakes but hanging in there.O man thank you BHW and thank you techbull you made me just focus on simple things that I could start out with and get the hang of it.

One more thing, when I move website to its own domain, should I ping it or no?

Also when building backlinks for the site or any site should I use different proxies ( my understanding is that proxies are just different ip addresses?)

Or get a vps server???
