Hey Guys..

As i hope everyone have noticed that there are a lot of newbies are registering with BHW nowadays. Most of them are fake accounts, Spammers, Promoting their services. Some are trying to buy paypal accounts. Even through few are willing to buy aged BHW accounts.. What a mess. They are just ruining the reputation of this Great community... So i thought may be BHW should stop new registrations for a while. Or they should set a minimum $10 fee for new registration. So that only serious people can join this forum who really want to share their information or who really want to make some good money..

Even one more thing can be done. Like as some other forums do... First 10 posts of every newbie should go to moderators for quality check. But this is bit hard job as there are around 1000s of people are joining everyday.

What do you say??

Thanks
Palwinder

All you need to do is report the posts and a mod will delete it or take action.

Fake/ inactive accounts should be removed in every 6 months. DD should hire a team to remove those crappy accounts :) Charging $ from newbies is not a good idea.

Maybe they should have stopped in July 2012?

Honestly, we were all new at some point.

This is the internet.

There are scammers. There are noobs, there are liars, there are previously banned members...

If you see some bullshit, report it. Let the mods do their job.

This forum exists because of new registrations.

This happens every summer on every site.

You registered last summer when people were saying the same thing you are now.

If it went through then, you wouldn't be a member.

THINK.

But when i was new to this forum.. I spent many time to just read the post. I posted rarely. But nowadays.. People comes to the forum. If they find something interesting. Clicks on registration tab. and promotions promotions and promotions.

I just gave a suggestion. No Personal attacks... Okay?

Anyone that owns a website wants 1 million members not 20,000. Hence open registration...I admit theres a downside but even other forums that tried to restrict membership changed back to open registration after a while.

I think the 10$ fee is only going to discourage people and drive them away, and not only spammers, just look at WF.

@Monkid, the registration by invitation is not a solution also, because as a new member, you probably don't know anyone around, and there is no way you will possibly be able to register.

I recently jumped back on DP for the first time in over a year. They have lots more rules and mods now. Perhaps this is something that can be explored here at BHW. At the bare minimum I think we should raise it to 100 replies before someone can post a thread.

Charge for sign-ups? And look like WF or DP? No thank you.
There are spammers signing up of course but don't forget there are nice people who depend on a forum like this to make ends meet. Not everyone became a big contributor on day 1 you know. Mods and admins one day too looked like newbies but now they earn bucks because BHW has free sign-up system. It's not nice to deny someone a privelege just because you already got to experience it. Staff already do a great job of keeping spammers at bay and I think BHW should remain like it is forever.

Just my 2 cents
RW.

Keep calm and cage the ninja thats dancing your keyboard.

Just report the post and be done with it.

Closing registration would suck, also reviewing all new registrations is a pain in the arse. This is a community, we work together. Shutting our doors would be a silly move to make. Just report bad posts and encourage others to do so. Things will be fine.

LOL @ the OP: He managed his way into BHW, and now he wants to deny others access to this forum. Since you suggested this, I think you should be the first one to pay the $ 10 registration fee for testing purposes.

That's why we have a Jr VIP section. It's optional for those that want to take it to the next level or just give something back to the forum.

No worries bro.. i will pay $97 soon instead of $10...

"Most" is not "all." If your suggestion had gone through just one year ago you wouldn't have had a chance either.

The mods do a fine job of handling most problems. Problematic thread OPs are usually smacked around a bit before the mods get to them anyway. The invite only system could work, but it would be abused. You'd see threads on DP & WF of Benedict Arnold's Buy Your very Own BHW Invite. Charging for new accounts is a noob tactic. Things should be as they are. When the kiddies go back to school and holiday hiring starts again, it will filter out.
