BHW should start its own website marketplace

Sitepoint have just spoilt their rep big time with the epic fail of their new website marketplace "flippa.com"
The time is right for a new competitor to enter the market and take away most of sitepoints share.

I suggest BHW to set up something like the old sitepoint marketplace integrating the freelance services section into it as well. It should ideally be on a new domain and have a different branding compared to the BHW forum.

The reason I see this working...is because BHW is already a big community and the new marketplace can be beta tested and made popular firstly within the forum..as something used only by BHW-ers and later open to the general public.

Seriously..if not BHW...someone should start a marketplace...fast...like in the next 2 weeks..before sitepoint realizes its made a massive mistake!

Its a domain name forum. I believe something like the sitepoint set up would work. It had the right mix of everything.
Domains...complete websites etc
If we/bhw can come up with a similar properly organized set up...and promoted through bhw at first..for example a 5 dollar listing during beta mode etc..it could go on to be something major.

I'm very interested in starting a site like this, was already doodling some design concepts in my artbook. They've had it easy for too long.

i agree with you in principle but what you are asking is a big ask - who has the time to run it, stafff it etc etc etc - we are all so busy doin our own things its difficult enough to take 30 mins out to participate here, in this forum, let alone start running an auction site - Good idea though - Good post
