Maybe he posted some stupid thread which got deleted because it was pointless. There is a hidden message in my comment.

Probsbly brcause he was asking questions to which the answers
could have been found by using BHW's search engine. However,
I do believe that we have a number of "trigger-happy" negative
reppers who, for their own entertainment, enjoy neg repping
almost anyone for any reason. It is an abuse of the Rep system.

Common man, this thread is in The Lounge. People are abusing the rep system as WizGizmo pointed out. This thread isn't totally pointless. :P
 
Dude, I am personally tired seeing these rep threads to tell you frankly. Be it in the lounge, or anywhere else. Why do you guys worry about reps atall?

IMP BHW's rep system is gamed more while gaining reputations than neg repping. We have bunch of these guys having fat reputation bars for NO valid reason because they abuse it by giving reps each other.

All though I wouldn't of opened this thread and asked the question you did Srikaanth, I hope you got a little feed back on why he could have got been -repped and yes people do abuse the rep system it seems sometimes.. But don't worry about it man, it doesn't make who you are here, just contribute and be kind. Smile no matter what as*hole might piss you off and you'll see some positive feedback..

That is true . . . It can be, and often is abused in both the Negative sense and the Positive sense.

It was once useful as an indicator of ones value (or lack of value) on the forum,
but it has lost its meaning now, due the the massive misuse of it.
 
I personally totally ignore rep. It used to be a useful indicator of how reputable someone has become, but now its an indicator of how many friends they have repping eachother.

For me, how many thanks one has is more of an indicator. You can only get 1 thanks per person per post. More thanks = more useful that person has been in any given post. If a user has many many thanks in few posts, it means he probably SHARED something very useful. If a user has many thanks in many posts, it means the user has helped out members in a thread many times.

You certainly have and from people abusing their positions.
 
This thread is completely pointless Srikaanth. Rep system unfortunately, is no longer a valid way to gauge a person's authenticity. And as others have pointed out, these rep threads (in lounge or wherever) are a daily sight nowadays.
