BHW redesign no bs brainstorm

I only ever view BHW on a desktop and it's simple, easy to use and works well. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

So i started the thread to get some feedback on design issues, brainstorm kind of thing, im not trying to push my tile concept that was just a concept but people are freaking out.

Nobody has any criticisms or ideas on how to help make the site more UI friendly? No one has had any issues on their phones, tablets?

How about some ideas, like a discord or something?

Remember when youtube made their upgrades, remember all the tards in the chat spamming that ASCII tank?

Or when they changed the like system? Youtube did it anyway, because maybe YOUTUBE knows best, not the users

Leave your comfort zones guys, the domain and reputation is whats carrying BHW.

(ive stopped working on the initial tile concept, i think it will be a waste of time now)

This is one of the issues with making changes to any platform with a large userbase; a lot of people can't handle changes, and this does need to be taken into consideration.

You'd be amazed at how many people say they're going to quit using BHW or just straight up threaten us for changing something they didn't notice before.

They may not be suggesting that because off-forum groups aren't permitted here (we don't want to be hypocritical here). BHW would also be very unlikely to start a Discord server that we would need to spend additional time moderating.

I remember that "Bob is building an army" tank.

Funnily enough, that Bob tank debacle was about YouTube requiring a Google+ account so that they could claim that their Google+ social network was the biggest one on the net (you know, to make it seem more competitive with Facebook and MySpace).
Or when they changed the like system? Youtube did it anyway, because maybe YOUTUBE knows best, not the users
YouTube/Google/Alphabet don't always know best and, like any company, are capable of making mistakes.

I remember when Myspace redesigned/revamped. Killed off the site and my substantial income :(

I like the current simplicity of BHW.
I agree here.
And I don't want more emojis... it's neat and simple as it is.

I'm quite conservative, so I'd probably use BHW less if there was a radical design change.
And no... I wouldn't be threatening anybody.

Let's just leave it and not overcomplicate and/ or overthink it.
Seems to be the disease of the century to dissect everything into some psychological, technological complex entity.
Wow, I had a good laugh at the last line. How did you come up with that?

Yeah, there’s gonna be riots.

I also like the current simplicity of the forum ! And I don’t mind if it looks a bit as in the 2000-2010. Good memories there. :)

That's what is looks like in reality. For some of these people, this is what's going in their heads:

Okay, maybe this is what's happening at most in some office somewhere in the world.

I remember there was one guy who sent a staff member a message begging us not to change a thing about the forum, because they think it's perfect the way it is and they couldn't handle any changes to the forum.

Didn't MySpace do that redesign to be more competitive with Facebook?

I remember when Justin Timberlake bought it and had it redesigned again, that drove more people off the site.

I forgot what my final straw with MySpace was.

Honestly, I'm the same with websites. If they do a radical redesign, I'm much less likely to use it just because I would need to get used to where things are.

I think this is what causes others to just move to another website when this happens: if they have to get used to a new layout, may as well give another website a try.

"I am an old man and it is very difficult for me to give up on my habits", old people say...

No, I don't think we need a new "modern" design.

In any case, it is nice to see that other people want to see something new because it means that the place where they are, means something to them.

Since it's been a week without a response in this thread, I'm locking it.

tl;dr Design suggestions are always welcome, although we're very unlikely to do a radical redesign in the near future.
