BHW Owner And Staff!!

Hi to the bhw owner and staff.

First of all, i have to admit, im taking a bit of a risk by posting this, and i most likely will get ripped to bits, however i believe we all have to take risks to get anywhere.

This is my "issue".

It seems for good or for bad, that senior members are frequently getting annoyed with constant requests from newbies with questions that have been answeres 2, 3 50 times in previous posts and threads.

Now before you all jump on my back i totally understand your frustrations..for the majority who ask, laziness is the only reason they havent discovered their answers, not to mention not having read the threads specifically designed to give "newbies" direction within the forum.

This forum, is massive!!.

Im sure some of the senior members at one time felt intimidated and even lost within it sometimes.

So where is this going??

I would like your suggestions on creating a thread specifically for newbies who have answers they might feel sound silly to others..

An example being it took me about a week to find out what "pinging" was.Yeah you might laugh, but i guarantee theres others out there asking themselves the exact same question. Not to mention "how to ping"...you see where im going?? How embarassing would it be to ask that in a post where the people viewing it are allready well established in their efforts to making money online.

Now i know the information is allready out there somewhere in the thousands of posts, and for those who are, lets say, not orientated very well, a thread where maybe newbies could ask these type of questions wihtout fear or being ripped to shreds i believe would be fantastic.

I would personally volunteer to oversee this thread, by answering these questions myself.Not because i know it all, quite the opposite in fact, i know very little, but i'd enjoy helping out other newbies, alleviating the load of the senior members who are either working themselves or are helping and assisiting those with more "technical questions".

Not only that but naturally i would also learn a lot myself from the information, and would also be in the position to provide better knowledge for all the newbies.

Now please dont think im just up here to try and act like some "big man" if anything, i stand to look like a di*k if i dont deliver

You may of course choose someone whom you view to be more suitable for overseeing this, again im happy with that, i know how much work may be involved and im cool with asking my own dumb ass questions lol.

Anyway i hope you view this thread in the way in which i hoped you would
and look forward to hearing what thoughts you all have on this

I have one idea to take care of this problem. Just like BHW has a VIP section which is accessible to VIPs, they should make a newbies section. All posts that are relevant to newbies should go in this section. Once the new members have a predefinted post count, they should be able to access the general forum. It would be upto the moderator to see which posts would be assigned to the newbies section.

Nah, I like the image of a newbie sweating to figure out what DP means.

If a user cant use the search feature we have already. What would make them come view this thread?

And not being rude but you stated that you didnt know what pinging was a while ago so what would make you a valuable asset to oversee a thread helping newbies?

Everything that a newbie could find can be found using the search feature.
Even if we put a newbie section here it would still not work out the way you would imagine, 50% of posts here usually have to be moved as they are posted in wrong sections

And if they ask again then no problem, its no big deal, it keeps in reality with current newbie trends and our other users dont mind participating as new ideas come on a daily basis.

We also would not be willing to hand someone a thread to look after which could build a so-called reputation for yourself when we dont know you.

If a user cant use the search feature, they will not even read your thread. Not even if we stickied it, put it in header. Or anything, i think the best thing anyone should read first here is the rules. Thats the main material that when not read pisses people off.

Ive re-read my post and can see how i may be coming accross.

The way i was trying to put this accross was that yes the answers to most questions lie within the forum already, and the search feature is there to be used.

Regarding why my information would be listened to being a newbie..sorry i didnt explain myself very well.

I meant that i would actually use the search function myself in relation to the questions asked, so that the answers i provided came from senior bhw members themselves who had already answered the question, also provising the thread link, and suggestions on how to find similar answers next time.

I do agree that even when provided with the "newbie" thread, many would still ask anyway, but rather than finding the thread to send them to regarding their question, just send em to the newbie thread.

I do like the idea of a thread where perhaps not everyone could see who asked the particular question...might save a few blushes!!

What a lot of people don't realise is for general questions such as "what is ping" in your case. It would have only took you 5 Second to get your answer in Google which is the biggest search tool. The fact is most of the basic questions can be found in search engines if your unable to find it on BHW due to the multitude of threads.

Yes that of course would be a more sensible option, i thought maybe having all the information "under one roof" may have been more effective though, but then again if someone cant open up another tab in their window what have have they got? lol

I think the point needs to be made here that in searching for this answer you learned a hell of a lot in the process, this has been proved by some of your subsequent posts. This is why we get pissed at terrible noob questions, they want immediate answers and that's not going to happen. I always say you need to know the rules before you test the boundaries of them. There are more and more people coming in that don't have a clue about the internet, nevermind marketing.

If anyone wants respect then they will need to read the forum, Personally I spent just under two months reading everything I could, you simply can't cover everything in a day or two, it's impossible and this is taken into account if we see a noob who joined in April say they need help. They simply haven't put in the groundwork, they want the diamond in their hands without digging for it first.

The point here is not to have a noob section, it's to have a lazy stupid noob section, most noobs will take the time to read, lazy stupid noobs won't and we don't want these type here, nevermind giving them their own section.

That was my first thought when I read this.

How about making a tutorial video with Camtasia welcoming people and showing them how to use the search function.

To be honest, the "search this forum" at the top of the threads page is not all that obvious and won't stick out to a newbie. And the amount of threads returned from searching the entire forum using the box on the left is just daunting.

I say explain the categories and show them how to use "Search This Forum" to drill down to their answer.

Im glad i wasnt attacked vigourously because of how i may have sounded in my opening post. My plan wasnt to take over the bhw (lol) but rather to provide a suggestion on how "newbs" may perhaps find it a little easier to navigate around the site and understand the importance and procedure for discovering answers to the questions they may have...without ridicule.

I wasnt trying to rock any boat or boost my own reputation or ego, and i did input my post into the correct section and i do appreciate everyone that took the time to put in their 2 cents worth.

As mentioned i AM A NEWBIE to the whole earning online and especially to the bhw and appreciate the chance to learn from people who are actually earning!!.

With so much on the site i still believe its like being 5 years old walking into the middle of a packed football stadium and asking where the toilets are

I was a newbie not so long ago, and I can testify that getting information on this forum is the easiest task compared to other that waited for me on my blackhat path. So, if other newbies cannot live with that, maybe they don't have the right mindset. I think that our mission here is to earn money and share techniques along the way, not to teach somebody bh terminology from ground up in person. I am aware that this post could look offending, but that's how the things are.

Granted there is some truth in what you say, but you cant assume that someone who doesnt know how to search through forums is a total halfwit.

Maybe some of them came from an offline business and have deided to try their luck online, and yes, maybe if they find this forum too early in their online learning curve, they are liable to be viewed as stupid.

Are we to dissapear until we're up to a certain standard??

Anyway, i did not want to get into an argument, i apologise if this may come off somewhat confrontational, my point was merely we're all at different stages in our online endeavours.

Still a dumb idea. Why should you have to use the search feature for them? I am sure their fingers aren't broken. Laziness is the key to being a loser. If they want to be losers then so be it. This is a stupid post, whether or not you tried to come off that way. You are basically asking for a section to condone laziness. Get some common sense. cguru: Maybe your computer can knock some into your head.
