BHW Beta Test 3/20/16

As per DD's post, I thought I would leave my thoughts on the final beta version of the new BHW here. My apologies in advance if some of these issues are already known.

Desktop and Mobile:

• Edit Thread/Post Button: Maybe I missed it, but was it removed? I see that you can edit tags, but not the actual thread or post.
• Profile Error: Clicking on my own username at the top right-hand corner of the page (not any of the items in the drop-down menu) results in the following error: BHW Beta testers forum - Error - You do not have permission to view this page or perform this action.
• Ratings Received: Clicking on it results in the following error: BHW Beta testers forum - Error - The controller XenForo_ControllerPublic_Account does not define an action called RatingsReceived.
• Quotes and Code: I tested the codes and quotes tags, but it looks like the buttons for them no longer exist. I'm not sure if that was intentional.
• Video Embedding: Currently, you can't post 2 videos in the same post on the current version of BHW. In the beta, however, you can post as many videos as you want in the same post. I'm unsure if this was intentional.
• Profile Edit Buttons: They're missing or difficult to find.
• Image Alignment: In the beta, when I click the image in a post draft, the source link will pop up. I currently just click the images once and select the alignment I want, although the beta requires me to click, close the pop up box, and then align. I'm probably the only one who does this instead of clicking next to the image to align it, so it doesn't matter much if this gets changed.
• Password Resets Not Being Sent: DD said that password rests work with our registered accounts, although when I tried sending a password reset to my email, it never showed up (yes, I confirmed that it was the right email).

Desktop Only:

• Jr. VIP Label: The blue Jr. VIP profile box overlaps with the avatar.

I'm unsure if this was intentional.D Well noticed! This is intentional we may limit if this option is abused in the future but this is one of the many improvements from the new platform. .
• Profile Edit Buttons: They're missing or difficult to find.D Probably related to the issue you're having above. The profile is found by clicking on the user name - standard on most platforms, but if this proves complicated we may add a link in the footers .

The structural changes looks perfectly fine to me and it sounds like a total change !

The controller FOOTPRINT REMOVED does not define an action called RatingsReceived.

These are really great changes and structure has been changed perfectly.

Honestly i don't think the Jr.VIP bar looks good. Just my opinion on it though.

Edit Thread/Post: All right, so it's supposed to appear on the grey bar below the post. The Edit, IP, Delete, and Report options all appear to be missing on my end (refreshing the page doesn't help). I've posted a screenshot of a post I created shortly prior to taking the screenshot below of what it looks like.


Profile Error: Sure, here are a few screenshots detailing what's happening.

In the first one, the link I click is circled in red. I'm assuming that it should take me to my profile page.


However, clicking the link instead yields the error as shown in the image below.


Profile Edit Buttons: Sorry, I was actually talking about the edit settings to change my profile biography, location, signature, etcetera. On the current platform, it looks like this. However, while there is a Settings menu on the beta platform, I don't see any options to edit my profile and change my signature. Perhaps it's related to my issue in Edit Thread/Post.


Ratings Received: Roger that.
Quotes & Codes: I found it. Thank you!
Video Embedding: That's understandable. I noticed that the videos seem to load a bit slowly (loading in this case refers to how long it takes the embedded video to appear on the site, not buffering), but that's only if there are a bunch of videos embedded on the same page.

Image Alignment: That sounds fine.
Password Resets: Great!
Jr. VIP Label: Yes, that's the overlap I'm seeing! I was also wondering if there were going to be separate labels for Jr. Execs, Execs, and moderators?

Overall, pretty much everything is looking great on the new platform!

Went through the new platform today and i felt happy been part of this forum.
One sharp improvement is the avater of the poster on the homepage.

Going to scan through the website. Not yet notice something significant.

Here's another issue and a couple of personal opinions:

• The Personal Details page displays the following error message: "BHW Beta testers forum - Error - You do not have permission to view this page or perform this action."
• Jr. VIP usernames appear to be close in colour with Jr. Executive usernames. While this makes it easier to see Jr. VIP usernames, it makes it a bit more difficult to tell Jr. VIPs apart from Jr. Execs.
• The premium member tag under the Jr. VIP tag (next to the avatars) seems a bit superfluous.

Here's another one:

While I was on the "Latest Alerts" page (although this happens no matter what the previous page was), I clicked on my username at the top as shown here.


I know I mentioned this error before, although now it's displaying a login page even though I'm already logged in.



Clicking the "log in" button will only reload this same log in page.
