BHW Acronyms List

Spoon feed them more... you give them a hand, they'll take your whole arm.

And URL is NOT Universal Resource Language. LOL!

Chinese whispers here we come.

By your way of thinking, anyone who has ever looked something up in the dictionary is being spoonfed the English language. How dare someone not know what something means and HOW DARE someone put together a reference list.

Get off your fucking high horse.

QFT (Quoted for Truth) Short and to the point, just like the OP. Compare that to the meandering dreck that passes for helpful information here. Posts like "Follow me, a 4 year-old's journey to make potty ALL BY MYSELF!" and everyone just ADORES these things. Or the "Conversational" posts, that assume someone is reading it. I almost never make it past the 3rd sentence.

"Hey everyone. I was just thinking about sharing a method for converting internet marketing leads into hot, income generation factorials, but I decided that everyone has already read too many posts about the fractionalization of income earning methodologies market. So, instead of being like "everyone else" I decided to give you a REAL, 100% handle on HOW TO MAKE MONEY. That's right, unlike many other pedantic practicalizations, this Erzatz Paradigm ACTUALLY WORKS, and can incorporate up to 5000% Return on Investment if you try really, really hard and put on your bunny ears. Like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, you just TAP THOSE SHOES, and No, it's not enough to cross your fingers and close your eyes, you also have to BELIEVE in the power of your mind, and after that you'll have so much money you'll have to pay someone to count it for you."

Some douche posts something like that, only it meanders around for a while, drives by Facebook and waves, plays bumper cars off the wall of the local university and name-drops a few motivational speakers like TONY ROBBINS and people just fall over themselves gushing on & on about how "useful" and "insightful" the post was, "rep given" and "thanks so much" etc...

I post all of this because I have solid proof that at least some of the Members here have the ability to read with a good degree of comprehension, they know what good information sounds like and are not afraid to call something bullshit when it stinks just like bullshit. And for those Members (us) having basic framework of some of the more-commonly used "buzzwords" defined can turn a post that causes confusion into one that lends clarity.

The OP forgot "GA" (Google Analytics) and WMT (Web Master Tools).

PS For years, I thought "QFT" meant "Quit Fucking Talking" (until I found out what it really means), and who knows how stupid I must have sounded due to this basic failure to understand the context in which all the successive words in a post fell into. If only someone had "spoonfed" me the meaning of that particular acronym. I wouldn't have spent so much time sounding like a dumbass.

My sentiments exactly. I'm glad OP took the time to put this up, however long or short it was. What matters is someone making a conscious effort to better other people's lives. No matter what you know or think you know I would say most of it is built off the exp. gained from helpful forum post's like these.

Really good work? lol

The OP clearly stated that the list was "partially" pulled from a list. A quick Google search can give you the answers to most acronyms if needed.

That's what I'm saying, LOL. I missed that one but apparently the OP stated that he pulled these from a list.

CPA also is used interchangeably for cost per acquisition. If you don't want to help, go post on another thread.

Would it be extra helpful if I added definitions and links in the thread? For example, I can include a brief explanation and then link to the full one on WikiPedia or can link to the Scrapebox site for SB. Let me know and I can add more!

Yes, I had the same idea, but my thoughts meandered off when first I thought about how you would feel if I took your work and "improved upon it", and/or how you would feel if I told you how you could do a better job (I hate it when people take my favors and start looking for ways that I could spend more time to do the favor "better". Makes me sorry I did them the favor to begin with.) So I stopped thinking about improving the post in practical terms.

Then, I got a bit distracted because in some cases a wiki link, or some other, would be useful, but in other cases it would be clunky and in the way. I'm a purist and a perfectionist and having a post with some acronyms with links and others without would be clunky and inelegant and besides that it was your post anyways and didn't I already decide that I wasn't going to do it myself or make a suggestion to you and after than my thought trailed off and I decided to read other posts instead.

But, I bet if you crafted the article really well, forum staff might post it as a sticky somewhere.

LOL I'm fighting a lost cause, I'm not going to bother debating about this so you win, but just before I let you win I'll reply to the above.

A dictionary although a very good example and I can't argue against it, isn't really comparable. Most of these abbreviations is common sense that comes from reading the forum and finding new information across the Internet. If you're reading a thread titled "ScrapeBox ..." and you don't catch the drift of what people mean when they use the "SB" abbreviation within that thread then you definitely need some help. I'm not saying that this thread is stupid because although I've been making posts that make me look as if I'm against it, I think it's a good idea though I still believe that this is spoon feeding. Okay, you're helping the noobs, but if they're really noobs then most of them in most cases won't need these abbreviations anyway.

PS. So if this is really meant to help the noobs, then you really need to get down to the basics, i.e. what things like WP or WEB2.0 mean.

I'm always down to help. Just wanted to see how helpful people would think it was. Maybe might gauge some more interest before diving in.

If you build it, they will come.

This thread will be truly helpful for newbies landing on this forum. They're generally not aware of these words and keep pondering about the same. Though it is unfortunate that over a period of time, this thread will be hidden in the huge list of threads. :(
