Our freedom is being taken away. Law enforcement agencies want easy access to encrypted communications over the internet to spy on criminals. However, I think it will be abused by some and exploited by hackers.

After reading some of the responses, most of the people don't think this is a good idea, including me.

Please note that this is not a political thread so don't take it that way.

WASHINGTON ? Federal law enforcement and national security officials are preparing to seek sweeping new regulations for the Internet, arguing that their ability to wiretap criminal and terrorism suspects is ?going dark? as people increasingly communicate online instead of by telephone.

Whaaat, are they kidding me? That is such a dumb idea...if that is ever implemented which I doubt, there will be such a revolt from the people it is not even funny....

They have been doing this for awhile now guys. That is why if you are afraid they will hunt something down on your system download "Peer Block" its a P2P blocker I run it all the time so I make sure my downloads are strictly to me and no one else. It is free to download and it does not take much room to run in the background all the time so it can not hurt anything to have it.

they do this already. they are allowed under the patriot act.

Dude take it as a challenge. This will help pressure ourselves to think of new methods to become purely undetected over the internet world. US might dominate mostly everything here in real world but they don't dominate the internet world.

;)

bannedfree you make a good point. It was mentioned that the US lags or is way behind in internet technology. So they are trying to make it easy by making it the law that companies provide decryption keys or decrypted plain text. To me that's just being lazy and they don't have the knowledge to get it done themselves.

angelas111 right, maybe they've collect big2 data about us...
dont' forget facebok....:P

ECHELON has already been doing this for years. It isn't just telecommunications.

I've heard they have a special secret section in Pentagon called PentaPorn where they have downloaded all related content from the internet! ;)

I understand why the air gets so hot now-a-days -- Operation Pentium Overload At Pentagon!

j/k :D
