As it looks that freelancer.com lose near all good freelancers they decide to play stupid KYC games to make some money.

I ordered a freelancer to make a simple task worth 200usd.
(i have over 25 good feedbacks as employer there, all cool).

The freelancer and me agreed and i have made the milestone funding (200 usd).
After the freelancer was done and delivered me the code, i released the 200usd and ended the contract with a good feedback.

NOW IT COMES.

Freelancer.com wrote to the freelancer that they will keep HIS MONEY till I have made a KYC (ID pictures, Selfie + ID, adress proof) lol.
Of course he wrote these to me.

So i wrote to freelancer.com that i only will make such a KYC only to a approved or legal institution.
Sadly freelancer.com is nothing more then a private person on the street who ask you to make a picture from your ID.

After around 5 emails with 5 diffrent support guys there, they told me they will transfer me back the 200usd inner 15 days hahahah.

And it looks the poor freelancer dont will get his money from freelancer.com for which he legaly have worked.

Beware of these bad player.

I hope you would pay the freelancer directly once you get money back from freelancer.com

Myself being a freelancer, I know how hard it is being in his shoes.

I've had the same issue on Freelancer aswell, wouldnt recommend spending another minute on their shitty platform

Why this KYC thing? Even Aliexpress ask to do kyc even i'm being a customer for the past 4 years, i refused and just stay away from them now.

Just goes to show what they think of the freelancers on their site. The people who earn them their money.

You know what's interesting (and kinda funny tbh) about these freelancing sites? They have a rigorous KYC process when you're a freelancer but absolutely zero KYC when you're a buyer. They don't care where the money is coming from but care a lot when they're the ones paying out money. Because of this I fail to understand how this process makes the marketplace safer for both buyers and sellers.

If you accept any work, they charge you in advance even if the buyer didn't credit any money. The buyer can scam you and get away with it. And there are cases when they cheated buyers too. Their support is a scam as they don't even read disputes.

On a side note, I have an open scam report against their CEO to which no one responds :D

Freelancer has been one of the worst experiences for me as a recruiter. Surprisingly, I got much better quality from Fiverr!

Switch to Upwork! Freelancer is a big pile of crap.

Freelancer is absolute shit that has nothing but the worst shit workers on it left..
No idea how they became so shit...

I had a similar experience. Was scammed by a freelancer and now they are upset I have no interest in continuing work with the scammer.

I hope more people see threads like this.
