Hi, i want to defend myself here.. i have not done anything on her server, i did ask later why can't i log in anymore? i have been fixing her website, searching where did that malware came from.. after that i have not got a chance to get online, then i see on my paypal that a payment she did got into dispute. which why i want her to remove it before i clear all the problems on her hosting..

evilprincess, have you considered that you could have a keylogger?
Considering that you borrowed this laptop from a friend who was paranoid enough to break her webcam, it could very easily be that.

the laptop with the broken webcam is a laptop I have yet to use. A friend gave it to me but I haven't had a chance to so much as turn it on yet. And I pasted the entire Skype convo, so you can see that at NO time did he ask why he can't log back in. The credit card company informed my mom that all of the charges had the contact name of "Andrew Smith" and he told me his name was Andrew. You do the math.

Then you must also contact police-- it's a straight credit card defraud case. He shall go in for a long time.

P.S.: In many countries over the world, UK including, the bank takes the first complaints and not the police, because the bank/CC Company has all the personal details of the transactions and it will investigate first on its own, and then they will call the police when it's time to catch the defrauder. Go to your (mom's) bank and write an official complaint to them.

P.S.: It's also a case of Identity Theft the moment your money is gone from CC without the CC holder's (your's/your mom's in this case) consent.

This guy contacted me to do my mobile site. Talking to him for 15 min I knew he was full of shit. Wouldn't answer questions, send examples, etc. Just kept requesting a 100% payment.

Was pretty easy to spot for me.

I'm not sure if this has been resolved so far as the virus is concerned so I thought I'd put in my 2 cents.

I had a client that had an issue with a "virus" replicating itself no matter how much he searched and replaced.

He contacted me and I went through his entire site and got caught in the trap of finding and replacing just as he did.

Then I took it one step further and downloaded the entire domain to my desktop and replaced the entire thing with a "clean" version.

But, yet again, the infection showed up *sigh*.

Then it clicked... I hadn't checked his tmp folders.

That's where the bugger was sitting, so no matter how many times I made a change, it would re-write itself into existing code as if nothing had ever happened.

Once I went through his cache and tmp folders on the server, I was able to eradicate the problem.

They send tons of mails to filter out the realllly dumb people, so that they don't have to waste their time on people who get suspicious before spending money on them.

If your running an older version of WHMCS or a nulled one, there is a base 64 exploit. If you can get to the whmcs site, there is a patch for it, or upgrade to version 5 or later.
