I was silly enough to order .com from 1&1 (1and1.com) . The price was 1.18$ with ICANN fees so I didnt think much about it.
I have waited more than 6 hours for domain activation so I sent a support email. 25 hours after that, which is now I've
received a reply that made me angry:
Thank you for contacting us.

We do apologize for this inconvenience. It seems to us that you have ordered your domain from a country which we do not have support yet. We are doing our best to offer services in your country in the future.

If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us.

They don't support my country yet they charged my card for the domain. This is a complete joke. I dont care about
the dollar but then I read some reviews for that company. Turns out their past is not so bright. They have charged
people for services that people have not even purchased. Their "client dashboard" is also a complete joke. Their
email and contact details cannot be found easly on their site and their site is clogged with advertisements. One
thing that I am wondering is why are they ranked so high for "99 cent domain" and how on earth are they still
processing credit cards on their website.

Stay away from this company, and always read reviews if you are changing your domain registrar or your hosting
provider!

That was the first hosting company used by me way back in 2005, it changed my perception of all hosts forever. Even today I start running from any host when they resemble the answers to tickets that I received from 1and1

Yes, I used 1&1 Before, and after a few month my domain got locked without any reason
Beware and not recommended

Those guys are a joke, their support emails are copy paste and are in plain text...

1&1 is the GoDaddy of web hosting providers.

Let the dollar lost be a lesson to not go for the cheapest option in the hopes that they are the best. You get what you pay for.

Horrible company to do business with. I received debt collection letters from a company in relation to an account that I had cancelled with them and paid up to date. I would recommend that people avoid them completely even if they start offering domains for free.

Same here. Only shit happened with them, nothing good...

Edit : mistake. Posted in the wrong thread

Yep ive heard nothing but bad things about these guys, especially when it comes to cancelling.

Problem for me is i only learned of the problems after i bought a few domains - so i have a headache coming in future :(

I've used to buy domains when they were $1 each, and didn't have any problems. Sure the site is hard to navigate and the client interface could be a lot better. I got billed for a domain that I let expire, but after a couple of days they issued the refund automatically.

If they would offer 99 cent domains again I would certainly buy from them again and then probably transfer them out to other providers.

I didnt get anything except an invoice :D

If you live in a country such as Nigeria or another "restricted country", they're known to have problems online with payment processing scams (among other things) and it's pretty widely known that you're going to run into issues as some companies have stopped allowing payments from such countries.

Nope I am from easter Europe and I didn't have any problems with any kind of payments by now.

Things are getting pretty fun:

Also notice that the support member is other guy, whereas every other company binds one support member for a particular case. He says my account lacks verification, well I didn't receive any verification email and their shady dashboard didn't have any link to resend one.

I know I am not getting my dollar back and its not a big deal although this is hard earned money. A dollar in my country is valued way more than in developed countries. The only thing that bothers me is that I saw other people charged for stuff they didn't purchase. Currently they seem to respond fast lets see what excuse will I get now.

if you are still signing up with 1&1, Godaddy and Namecheap you are not reading reviews on web hosting review sites.
I have a few domains with both godaddy and namecheap and I don't have any problems nor a reason to contact their support.

If your previous post is correct, that you didn't receive anything but an invoice, then the domain was never actually registered. Why not go to another registrar and register it?

These guys are the absolute worst. My first horrific internet experience back in the early 2000s. They make EIG hosts look like the gold standard.

Excuse me Kyle but there is a common misunderstanding. Where I live invoices are issued after payment is done (financial system here is a mess), what I wanted to say is that I have been charged for a service that I will never use probably.
