Better to Write 1 In-Depth Article or 5 Short Ones?

I can't decide if I should write more short pieces or fewer big, excellent ones. What is more profitable in the long run for people who write for a living?

One in-depth article usually ranks and earns better long term, but mixing in shorter posts keeps content fresh and builds topical authority.

I pick whichever I enjoy more because burnout kills any profitability faster than format.

If writing for your site, write or hire someone to create a long, authority 'pillar' piece per each major topic or keyword. Add a few shorter pieces as 'satellite' articles to the main piece, and put in good internal linking to support the pillar. If just writing in general, go with the length suitable under the circumstances---if it's for a editorial level niche site, make sure it's long enough to satisfy the specs outlined by the domain, or if it's a generic platform, write shorter pieces, and so on.

One big article and create multiple articles supplementing the big one. Interlink them, it will rank better and will also provide better information to your audience.
