Better to go with regular hosting or Wordpress hosting?

I see almost all popular hosts offer Wordpress hosting specifically but its more expensive than the regular one. So is it better to go with regular hosting or Wordpress hosting? Do their WP hosting have something that the regular hosting does not?

Mostly there is no major difference between the WP Hosting and regular hosting .

First off, no. With Wordpress Hosting, you actually get less features like control panels of cPanel and all that. It is meant to trick people in buying it just because the hosting knows your only gonna use WP and would help u boost up the performance of it.

That's not true always.. Most of the host offer worpress hosting plans same as their shared hosting.. It's just a trick to attract people..

As said, the hosting company can disable all the other features. Such as addon domains and all that technical shit is disabled and therefore may allocate a bit more resources. Plus, if a newbie wants to find wordpress hosting, Wordpress Hosting will look more appealing than Shared Hosting
 
If you just starting to make a wordpress website and generating small number of visitors, then its better to stick with regular shared hosting.

There are many hosting companies out there who offer great quality shared hosting which can handle quite big traffic.

When you use shared hosting, dont forget to use PHP 7 and install cache plugins (I use WP Super Cache) to make wordpress runs in better performance. If your hosting use Litespeed Web Server, you should use Litespeed Cache instead of WP Super Cache because the performance is even better than using WP Super Cache.

If your website generates massive traffic which caused the load time to slow, then you better migrate it to wordpress hosting.

Various web hosting platforms are somewhat like cars. Technically, every car will get you from ... So in short, you are going to be better off with a WordPress-specific hosting ... are differences betweenregular and WP specific web hosting providers. ..
 
WP hosting is just another marketing tactic to upsell. They install a bunch of pagespeed increasing plugins which ultimately slows down your wordpress site.
 
There can be a big difference between wordpress hosting and shared hosting. With some wordpress hosting they will use nginx, php7 or hhvm, and cacheing. Not all shared hosting will have these features. If you see a Wordspress Hosting company ask them about it, also ask them about security features, email, subdomains, dns, and another things you may need.

But like others have said many times its just a marketing trick, but there is some good ones out there.
 
If your looking to host one or two websites, I say go with thisistap.com, they are realy great host, and have their hosting on Google Cloud, only $5/month per site if you want to host with your own domain. If you set up a Wordpress site (in 2-3 minutes) as a subdomain to their domainname first, it is free untill you upgrade that site. You can have a lot of free sites there with Wordpress on steroids and free .. =)
 
centex-hosting is right. It's like "Retina" from Apple. It's just a trick to grab some more money haha
