Better than Hostgator?

hostgator and their support is by far the best.

Well Hostgator in my opinion has been one of the best of many companies I have done business with.
There tech support is fantastic. But a good option besides HostGator would be bluehost in my opinion.
I have seen good reviews on them.

agree with previous posters. I've used host gator, and honestly i've never had such quick turn around time on service requests. some changes made even within 10 minutes of initial request.

It depends what you mean by better? Have you had uptime issues with hostgator? Is too expensive? Too slow? What are you looking for in terms of improvement.

In terms of reliability, HostGator is probably the best. So you probably shouldn't be changing your host - you are already at the (probably) best host out there!

I just bought a namecheap 1 year hosting yesterday for 77$. I will make a review about their hosting after a month.

I can recommend both Hostgator and Hostwinds, very stable and no problems whatsoever.

Hostgator and A Small Orange are the two I've tried that had perfection!

had the absolute worst experience with Arvixe and will never recommend them...i had a couple sites with them with maximum traffic of 200 visits a day and they suspended the account for high usage...said i needed to upgrade the account and start paying $50 a month...for a site that small there was no reason to...I am now a hostgator and bluehost fan...

Hostgator is our competition, but let me say, if you are getting good service and do not have issues, DON'T CHANGE.
Even for a few dollars a month, it makes more sense to try to increase your traffic or monetize your site better than to switch hosts. All you need is a new set of challenges to regret your move.

I've used BlueHost for a couple years now and they are great. Never had host gator though

I use Godaddy for all my websites hosting and have only ever had 1 problem over 4 years. They have cheap prices also with good customer support. So I recommend them as an alternative to Hostgator.

I've had 1and1 for over 6 years without a problem. They warn you no to do constant database hits, like you would encounter if you would setup your own ad-server, ajax chat, or whatnot, not that I've tried to test their limits or anything. I imagine some IM'ers might come into problems.

I have also had clients who've used Godaddy and came into problems with hackers taking advantage of, what we could surmise, to be their server configuration.

Another client used fatcow and the page load times were herendous when using Drupal. Also, a few years back I was going to transfer the few sites I had to Justhost but ended up transfering the one domain back when I saw how slow their server response times were. I actually paid them the non-refundable registration fees and bolted after about a week, it was so bad. They even offered to give me a further discount on the hosting I purchased, even though I bought it on a discount/promo rate to begin with.

You pretty much get what you pay for when trying to get "cheap" hosting. If you want to pay a few $ a month less, it usually bites you in the ass. The reviews out there don't help either. There is always a ton of reviews that this or that is horrible and go with this, but for the most part I think it's just IM SEO and companies putting bad reviews out there just to keep pace with everyone else. Plus with the amount of people purchasing domains and hosting, you will always have a small percentage, though a good amount of people complaining. about this or that.

I'm at bluehost as well. No complaints what-so-ever.

Their simple scripts are rad. Their current pricing is at 4.95$/mo

Looking into Hostgator since so many recommend. Interesting.

I just signed up at Hostgator and they send me the following email:

In order for us to continue with the account setup, please respond to this ticket with a scanned copy of a Photo ID such as as a passport, or drivers license. In addition to a photo ID, please include a scanned copy of the credit card that was used in your account purchase (assuming you purchased a hosting account with a credit card). For security purposes you can mask off all the digits of the card number except for the last 4 digits.

Hostgator sucks big time from this point of view.

So did you guys send them scanned copies of whatever they want?

And can you recommend other hosting company which is not asking for such BS?
