best wp directory plugin

After searching around on bhw, I can see that Directory Press seems to be a favorite for making directory sites. I've been looking at, Directory Press, businessdirectoryplugin, and http://templatic.com/cms-themes/geo-places-city-directory-wordpress-theme/ They all look good, directory press so far is looking to be the one to use. I'm going to set up directories for local/national niches with the intent of income to come from sign ups and banner advertising. Not sure if free signups and banner advertising is the way to go yet. What do you guys recommend to use for a wp directory.

Does it have to be WP based?

I've used PHPLD in the past for a local directory...it's a "paid for" software but has some good features, free templates and some free plugins.

Thanks for the suggestion, it doesn't have to be wp, just like the simple upload a plugin and off you go mentality. I did spot a prevous post on the question I asked, and found this site http://www.appthemes.com/themes/vantage/ on the prevous post it was still in beta and not live. I will check out your suggestion and go from there, thanks.
