best wordpress theme to address the latest google webspeed tests

Guys - I have envision wordpress theme and have a lot of issues when I try to add different plugins to cache, minify, etc to help with speed. The theme itself uses a lot of jquery.

wanted to know what wordpress themes you guys are using that has no issues with speed improvement plugins.

i have not seen any positive correlation with having amp pages and getting higher ranking

do this on your mobile, search for the following keywords and you will see that the top ranked pages are not amped pages
payday loan
newyork DUI lawyer

often times you can get a sense of what is working and what is not by looking at the serp result for these 2 phrases (heavily spammed and totally black hat)

I used BasePress before and achieve around 80/100 page speed score.

However, I installed a lot of cache plugins. Other than that, if you are using Cloudflare, you can set to "cache everything" for one particular page.

what score did you get on mobile? also what speed related plugins do you prefer?

Well, I just started using Amp to see the difference. If after one month no difference I will switch back to normal.

Okay see on www.thespruce.com how they have to articles beside each other when I go to mobile mode with Wordpress they only let me have one article image then the their one goes underneath it and it looks bad

I have checked the site using chrome, it shows fine, I'm thinking it's a custom design for the site, do you want to design something like that ?

Yes that’s correct I want a design like this, my website, but u do understand what I mean about having to pictures of the article side by side with no issues right ?

But I don’t think the these is the issue ? The second you go from desktop view to mobile view it’s just ...

I think the articles are different, it's not the same. Maybe you can use page builder to customize that style.

Check Generatepress or Astra theme. I get load time <0.8s with some optimization.

I'm using Performag from Thrive on one of my sites. I have done the A to Z of speeding up my site, which I mostly got from Shree's Amazon Affiliate course. So Wp Supercache, I use Wp Optimize every few months to tidy up the database, I also Smush all images using WP Smush, and started using Cloudfare as a CDN to speed things up.

What's odd is the HTML load time is 4 to 5 seconds. I did an analysis on Siteliner, a site I read about last week. Apparently my page load time is in the slowest 1% of the entire internet, some achievement.

Dunno if it is solely due to the theme, but it is on my to do list to do some digging on.

Don't use WordPress and don't use any free/paid themes.
You can achieve everything with your own code, which can be about 90% smaller (even if you minify everything and apply all sorts of cache).

It all depends on many factors.
For desktop version is pretty easy but i have difficulties with mobile version...
Desktop 95-100% by PageSpeed mobile only 80%....
