Check out the ClickDesk live chat Wordpress plugin. I started using after it was voted among the top 10 Wordpress plugins of 2011.

I have checked out the few listed above but I'm looking for something with maybe an icon that I can place somewhere in wordpress.
I have tried the free trial of "ultimate live chat" and like it but there are a few things I don't like about it. The visitor tracking seems to be slow and it does not track when they leave which would be helpful to know. I have tried contacting them with their chat on their website multiple times and have yet to have a response. Even though it specifies a chat time they will be available they still have not been available. Leads me to believe support may be horrible. Also no free version and you must buy a license for each website you want to use it on.
I have also tried "my live chat". It is okay and I like that they have a free version and their tracking seems more accurate but less detailed. I do not care for the layout in the back end as much as the other. Benefits are that you can place it on multiple websites without having to buy an additional license.
If anyone has tried those and could give me your insight on what you liked and disliked about them that would be much appreciated.
Also if you may know of others that have where you can add the icon where you would like rather than just the bar at the bottom I would love to hear about those too.

comm100 is also pretty good. Though im not sure if they have a wp plugin. But its a very simple copy & paste of 1 line of code to get it running

Like the others have said here, Zopim is awesome (and free for one agent).
You do not need a wordpress plugin. With Zopim (and other services like it), you will be given some javascript code that you can add as a widget in your footer. Its as simple as that.
