This is just a personal suggestion:
If you are going into this niche then i highly suggest you to consider getting a custom coded theme. Stand out from the crowd, people remember your website if you have a great looking theme. This is just a personal suggestion

Only if element has no separated closing tag (<input ... />, <br/>...), but </shamelesspromotion> has.n00b, the / in a HTML tag goes at the end

The best wordpress themes are the search engine friendly ones. Not all wordpress themes are search engines friendly.
Of course only themes won't give you traffic, but themes are also important factor. Don't look for how cool theme are, but look for search engines friendly one.
As i am aware of, thesis theme is very popular for SEO, however there are some free themes that created by thesis creators too, you can check that out on

I have really enjoyed the standard theme. They just released standard theme 3. I haven't tried it but the last version has been very good for me. standardtheme.com
